The war is over, and Japan lost. Actually, so did that Chiang fellow (buggered off to Taiwan).

Mao and his lot took over, and they all have been kinda doing their thing for a while.

Oh, and there was this leap forward thing. Didn't go over so well.

How's Cali anyway? I hear, there's a shortage of (drinking) water in US.

J. Rogers from Singapore:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-05-17/jim-rogers-coming-water-wars

Jim Rogers: Water is one of the great opportunities of our times. If you look at the world there are some huge shortages developing in some parts but there is also a lot of water in other parts, just in the wrong place – like water in Siberia for instance, which is not where most people are.

There are going to be wars in the Middle East over oil east of the Red Sea, but west of that there will be wars over water since there are serious water problems in that region. We will also have problems in the western parts of the US with the depletion of a big aquifer, from what I read.

So we have a lot of water problems in a lot of places. California is making the news right now, but that is not the only place at risk. And if you can figure out ways to clean or transport or pump water you are going to do very well.

China is in deep deep shit over water, not only they have 8% of the world's water for 21% of the population, but of this 8% a good 70% is too polluted for drinking, and of this 70% a good 30% is even too polluted for being of any use.

China will likely sign massive deals with Russia for that water in Siberia. Russia has 3% of the world's population and 37% of the water, a goldmine for the Russian government, sadly I doubt the people will benefit from it.

Rogers was calling for trading/market investments in drinking water/processing as early as 2004, if I remember correct. Beside precious metals water resources were his call.

Chinese polluted water can became drinkable (same as it's US treated water) with prevention of overall environment pollution, filters and such. Chinese have (dirty) water for difference of other parts of the world, where there's drought.

Drinking water will soon (10-15Y) became dearly sought item, and Russians will probably profit on it, if world remains in peace.

The fashion is more ridiculous than ever, and they start to genuinely believe they look cool.

It's like a mix between Korean pop-stars and color blindness.

Eorthisio:

Saw that guy today, likely a fuerdai, slender with trousers so tight that they reveal his lack of serious assets around the crotch, colorful top tank with flashy green and pink, improbable hairstyle that defies gravity, feminine features and an ego equal to that of 10 people. Typically the kind of guy who can't laugh at himself.

It started raining and the Boxer movement just vanished. John Dewey came over and no-one listened to him, preferring the Hunanese librarian from the farm who can't keep his voice down or his sausage to himself.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
