I did research on this recently and found that the cheapest solution is taobao (surprise, surprise). You can find all manner of weights and exercise equipment there as long as you know the Chinese keywords.

cooter:

Agree with taobao.  Added bonus, the weights are delivered to your domicile and you don't have to lug those heavy mothers back from the store.

Try this chin-up bar:

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.1.xqMTQF&id=4207504932

Or type "chin-up bar" in Taobao and take a look.

Costs about 50 RMB and well worth it. Weights? I dunno, I finally found a gym so no more home weight equipment for me.

Yeh, they're everywhere, they seem to sell them in stationers and hardware stores, they're all over the place. I picked up a bunch myself. Not too expensive at all. I mostly use them as door-stops.

Yes you can find it on Taobao i did but...postage costs will be a lot.

However on Taobao you can search sellers by where they live.  So when i lived in Yinchuan and was visiting Beijing i brought some weights from a seller in Beijing.  2 Olympic Dumbbells and weights loaded on it and carried it back on the train.  It was the south of Beijing an got there by metro and was in some shack but decent quality, i can search my history in Taobao and tell you the sellers ID if you living in Beijing.

You can also get them at Decathlon if you don't have internet banking or can't use taobao for some reason. I went to the one near the gongyixiqiao station on line 4 the other day. A little chaotic inside but they have everything you need.
