Hi,
I need some help and quick!
I'm on a L visa that will expire May 5th. I want to extend it in Shenzhen but I was told that I need to have 20,000rmb in cash or a chinese bank account which I can't get by today (I'm assuming I need to do this today as were going into the weekend.) I'm american so I don't want to have to get a new visa because that means paying like 900rmb.
Is going to HK an option? Can they extend there or will I have to get a new visa?
What is my best option to stay cheap? I want to be in Shenzhen so going to HK might not be so bad. I heard there s a 6 month L visa where you just have to leave every month. Could I do that and make a trip to HK every month? Would it cost me 900rmb each time?
There has got to be a way to stay here and not pay 900rmb a month!
Please Help!!!

Yeah, if you are really an American you are getting lied to. You can get a one year multiple entry visa. I talked to one person when I was traveling here got something similar. Keep in mind they kept my passport for an extended period of time and had a bad attitude later claiming they did not have my passport. After fighting I finally got it.
Long story short I changed agencies and got the one year multiple entry and after awhile I found out there are just some people in the industry that don't know anything about this. If you can only get a 6 month and a 1 month stay you are getting duped! Find a new agency or do it yourself!
Also keep in mind this was awhile back when I was doing the same thing as you for traveling, site seeing purposes. From what I know it's not uncommon to get a better visa type than that of which you currently possess.
The ship ticket from Shunde to Hong Kong is 330RMB for a round-trip.. By bus, maybe only need about 200RMB for a round-trip, and yes you need to do it every month. I don't know what the rates are for Shenzhen, but since it's a lot closer to Hong Kong, it must be cheaper.
If you have a valid visa, you can go and come back the same day..
If you need a new visa, it takes up to a week in Hong Kong, and they take your passport during that time for processing.. There are some cheap hotels in Hong Kong that are only about $50USD per night while still being very clean and quiet.. Mini Hotel in Central is one of my favorites, Hotel MK is another. The Mingle hotels are also nice and cheap, but they're typically very noisy in the morning.
