Q: I plan to spread the soap around. Do you see any problem with this?

I'm back to school tomorrow (well, I think I am...the arseholes never tell me anything.) and have a plan to put soap, both cakes and pump action stuff, in the toilets.

I can't stand how filthy everything is around here and hope the appearance of soap will change lives.

My small plan will see me distribute all this soap during class time so no one will see who did it, thereby not causing anyone to lose their face.

Can you foresee any dramas with this?

Either - a - it will disappear as suggested above. or b everyone will use it, think it's a great idea... and when it runs out, do nothing again.

Great idea.

Without even needing to use my crystal ball, i foresee any soap you leave out disappearing within 24 hours.

That has been my experience to date in China cool

Yes, my soap disappeared. Then they used my hand sanitizer like it was soap. Then that too vanished

I'm only a damn Shifu.  What is that anyway?

As for the soap, my wife thinks it'll all be pinched by the next day.  But I have a dream...that the concept will catch on and before I need to replenish the supplies the school will have make a decision to continue the practice without anything actually being said.

The future is in your hands Royce.

Todays lesson is .... "How to make soap"

Tomorrow... "Why is soap important?"

Your homework... go buy soap.

You are the teacher dude. You are the one with the power to change wink

Wow! Your soap disappears? At least there's a possibility that it's being used for the intended purpose. Your colleagues and students appear to have higher standards of hygiene than mine.

On each bathroom counter I put 2 beautiful bottles of handmade moisturizing soap, cute little vases of dried flowers and scented beads. Days and even weeks later the only change is how filthy the sinks and counters are, how splattered with water the mirrors are and how clogged the sink is by some doll who thinks that she can comb her hair into the sink and it'll flow down freely.  Disgusting!

In an attempt to encourage students to cover their mouth when they cough/sneeze, I always provide an ample supply of boxed tissues in our room. It's a constant battle to get them to use them for that purpose. The other battle is stopping them from freely taking them when they have to go to the bathroom.

So basically their logic appears to be, "Thank you for the tissues to wipe my rear but I have no intention of covering my mouth to protect you from my germs or washing my hands."  In all fairness, I've also seen some foreign teachers walk out and not wash their hands. {Ah, I'm so sorry I can't attend the foreign language department's potluck. I already have other plans; but have fun. Okay?} Uh uhhh, won't poison this germaphobe!

Good effort, and welcome to the forum.  Where you from, cob?  BTW, I used to like Enya.  Is she still active, do you know?

Hate to be another voice of cynicism but I think your wife is right. Would love to be proven wrong.

royceH:

Well, we'll see.  But it's not happening today because the bastards haven't responded to my declaration that I'm raring to go (I'm not) and how bout they hit me with my new schedule.  So I'm staying home.

best of luck. I'm not a cynic by nature, and I think people here are way too concerned with never being taken advantage of.

It's not going to bankrupt you to put some soap out, and if I could start a trend...all the better. :-)

Was I the only one who thought he was actually meaning "spread the soapbox around..." expecting some long winded drama session...

expatlife26:

haha yeah I didn't know what he meant either. Part of the reason I clicked on this thread I was curious!

maybe a "placard" to say that it is for personal use at the location it is at...  not at home.

and flood the place with it....  one will surely disappear.......2, maybe.... it can be done and it can work......  first time failures are not uncommon.......go for it, a really commendable attempt at "change".

It was all pinched by the next day.  Didn't bother me overly as, like everyone else, that's what I expected.

But when some bucket of scum broke into my desk and flogged my own brand new pump action beauty I went apeshit.  Busted up the classroom and demanded everyone be flogged.

All the school would concede was that it must have been a misunderstanding.

Superior, ask any of em.  Fewkers.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
