Q: I shouldn't toss tissues into the toilet?

I don't know the reasons....they may be good or not, but I just don't like to see a pile of used tissues at the corner of every toilet I enter, public or in homes. The sight is disgusting & the toilet is always smelly! What is the reason for doing this? Water recycling? Fear that the soft tissue will block the toilet system? Just what is it? Is it like this in Europe, US or other developed countries?

The main reason as old sewage systems could not handle the tissue and water would backflow out of the toilet.  Newer buildings have better systems that can handle paper but as a habit people still not flush the paper.  Other countries i know of is Greece not being able to flush the paper and im sure there s a whole list of countries where you cant.

Along with what steve said, you can't flush toilet paper down the squatty potties at all, new or old. Most places have that type of toilet.

But why would a small soft piece of tissue block a toilet if a giant Western turd does not. It is another of the weird logic issues I just don't get.

I get told to do this all the time but the thought of even opening the skidmarked tissue bin to drop my used one in makes me cringe so I just flush it. No adverse results so far.

The older water systems use smaller drainage systems that can not handle both together. And if you have ever realized, most Chinese food makes your bowls soft almost to the point of being like water, and here is a kicker for you, they use human feces to fertilize their crops

In my apartment when I lived in China I always flushed the paper and had no troubles with it.

In Denmark we always flush the paper and so do we in UAE.

Chinese toilet systems are not designed to handle wads of paper. Also, the paper is not very good quality (doesn't dissolve very well). You should never flush paper in a Chinese toilet unless you ask someone who would know if the system can handle it (like a maintenance person). And even if they give you the OK, use lots and lots of water when flushing to create the suction power needed to flush it through.  I live in a brand new Western designed apartment and we still cannot flush any paper. Only doing so once could cause a clog.

I live in a new apartment now but the gf still puts her toilet paper in the garbage instead of the toilet....although she has now started flushing the shit wipes after my complaining.

I have never in all my time here ever not flushed paper down the toilet...squatter or not.

Are they going to arrest me for this?

The fragile pipeline system contributes to this remarkable and unbelievable issue in China.

Buy a plunger and your problem is solved. Cannot bear walking into a toilet and seeing pile of toilet paper covered in poo.
