Q: I think hostel is a bad place to live?

Not much privacy, lack of good security, more chances to get into violence.

Better go live in a hotel in a single room.

I’ve stayed in hostels a LOT. All over Asia BUT I normally book a private room, not a dorm.

Why stay in hostels? Generally they are safe, no matter what Vicky thinks & you meet a really good mix of people.

Ive also stayed in 5-Star hotels...to be honest they’re bloody boring. Full of stuck up knobs who don’t mix with other guests.

Vicky - try them sometime but book a single room...loads of backpacking young westerners...

Rare for anyone to choose hostel over hotel. Typically just done from economic necessity. But sometimes groups of travelers do it on purpose because somehow along the way the hostel developed a reputation for having some sort of romantic, traipsing around Europe like some sort of Bohemian/Jack Kerouac character and by staying in a hostel that lifestyle rubbed off on you some. It was ok for a while when it was at it's best.

broken heartStill prefer hotel. Hostel usually cheap dirty, more violence. Can go to some bars to meet local people while travling, I saw New York has so many nice bars.

Have you EVER stayed in a hostel Vicky? I have, LOTS of times and have never seen any violence. They've also been clean as I've always checked review first.

Are you making comments based on assumptions with no actual knowledge?
