Q: I want to teach adults in Guangzhou, I have heard about EF, any other places for teaching adults.

Any info on adult cram schools, Bu Xi Bans whatever you want to call them. Is Wall Street in China ??

What kind of money can i expect to make roughly per month.

Are the lessons formal or just a general do the article and then free talk ??

Shirt and tie needed ?

Anyway any info on where you know would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

EF have an iffy reputation, but beware, training centres throughout China are very likely to say you'll only be teaching adults for you then to turn up to a class full of screaming 6 year olds!

P.S. That iffy reputation depends on the individual School, and usually the DOS.

You could try Web International English. Its a training center that focuses on adults. I'm not sure what kind of lessons they teach, but I'm pretty sure they are more formal. I pass by it almost everyday and sometimes I see the foreign teacher smoking outside. He is usually wearing slacks and a collared shirt. You probably wont be able to wear jeans because WEB focuses on teaching business english. As for the money, last time I heard they paid 10,000 rmb per month, but I live in a smaller city, so I'm sure the pay is better in Guangzhou.

I hope I helped answer some of your questions Smile

Yes, WSI is in China.. their current offer is 16000RMB for about 35 hours.

You should be aware, there are LOTS of posts about ALL of the teaching chains in China. Go to ESL specific sites, and do your research first! It does seem to be the case that a franchise in one city (or even, part of a city) gets some good reviews, but others get really really bad ones!
