I want to travel from Hebei to Yunnan with my dog as I will be moving there next month. I will be taking an aeroplane. Anyone done this? What are the requirements?

I think all domestic airlines requires you to sign a waiver so they can kill your dog without having to be concerned about you complaining. I would look into hiring a driver and go there on 4 wheels. Dreadful transportation or awesome road trip, that is up to you.
Find out what airlines fly between where you want to go, check each airlines rules.
Remember that this time of year, if the airline personnel leave Fido in direct sunlight after you land in Yunnan he will not last long

If it is a small dog you can also see if you can find flights from your place of origin to an airport outside China and then to your destination. Obviously not going to be cheap but most proper airlines will allow small dogs in the passenger cabin.
You have to watch heat. Heat can kill a dog. When a plane lands and disembarks, the AC is shut off, same with cargo hold and pets can't be sitting on the tarmac too long. Dogs need water to drink. Dogs left in cars die from over heating.
Something most of you do not know is when 911 was happening, all the planes in the US were grounded and not unloaded. Many if not most pets in cargo holds died.
TedDBayer:
You need an approved pet crate, not a cage to ship a pet. the pet must be able to stand in it, BTIC so maybe as long as it barely fits will work.
Just make sure they put your Dog in Cargo and not the flight catering service
You need to put it in a cage. And it won't be flying with you it will be in the cargo area where all the other pets are stored. You will probably have to pay extra for that service too. Not sure how much it is, but it probably varies from place to place.
Thanks for the tips. Every time I call the airline I get different answers, It's really frustrating.
A car? Easier said than done!
Scandinavian:
You find a driver who has a decent set of wheels. you agree on an amount for which he will drive, and off you go.
@scandinavian
I've looked into that, dog and crate have to weigh less than 5 kilos. She weighs 5.3 kg without the crate unfortunately.
For anyone else wanting to do this I found some info
