You should show them your pay stubs. When they see how little you make, they will laugh and forget the matter.

You should take time and read and learn the Chinese Immigration Law and its Regulations.  If you do, you will see that in order to be legal while working in China, makes no difference if you receive money or not.  For them, the correct interpretation is the same if you get paid for the work you do, or not. Either way, it is work, and you do not have a visa to do any type of work.

So, do as you please, and put up with consequences. I would say I also do have my doubts about this post, the Police is not so naive and they are really seeking for illegal immigrants.

Working on an X visa is legal now, provided you have the correct permission/approval. If you're working without that, you will be in trouble.

Since you were not arrested, I doubt they care too much. However, they may be trying to check whether or not you have the correct permission to begin working.

I strongly advise you to get permission from your school to work on your X visa to avoid all trouble in the future.

HappyExPat:

Hulk: working on an X visa is only allowed if it is an internship, with the same school you are enrolled and related to your studies. And it is not new, it was that way before.

Please review this. You are allowed to work as an English teacher/editor, etc. It is new.

This is a place to ask questions about China. Can we stop replying with "I doubt this post," "it's an obvious troll attempt" unless the OP is being really negative? Why not try to give them actual advice whenever we can, rather than constantly flaming and accusing people of being Chinese/whatever?

For pucks sake, non-native speakers generally have the same level of English as a lot of Chinese, so there will be similarities when it comes to broken English. Relax..........

crimochina:

hulk if i posed as a chinese person and posted "I am having trouble making my gf orgasm , I can only stay solid for 3 mins. I am about 2 inches long. is there anything i could do to make my gf orgasm?"

that would be insulting to chinese people. why? because I am not chinese. I am disguising an insult as a question. and that what this post is doing. it is an insult disguised as a question by sb clearly chinese.

Hulk:

I've posted anonymous questions here before and I have been accused of being Chinese.

I'm not the only one who has done this and been accused of such. Other clearly white posters whom I knew outside this board were getting the same shat too. It's getting on my nerves to see all the "oh he's a wumao... moving right along" posts. I am not a wumao, I am a five lincoln.

It's not hard to just answer the post. People come here with genuine questions, and the world is much bigger than China/the big five. There are lots of people with terrible English in China who are studying abroad. They come from the Middle East, India, Europe, Russia, etc. I've met many of them. They make the same English mistakes as Chinese.

It feels like it's a disservice to the purpose of this website to keep accusing people of being a wumao rather than answering their questions.

Judging by your English I think it's best they send you back to your home country for the good of Chinese students.

crimochina:

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
