Q: I was hit by a Chinese lady yesterday - should I fight back in self-defense?
The staff did nothing but starred at me. I had no phone with me as I was coming from the gym, so I could not call the police.
The Chinese lady who hit did so because she thought I was on her "way" and did give her "way".
How developed and civilized.
She hit me because she thought I did not give "way" to her. She was shouting and came to hit me more and try to get my face. I went away.
I can not say this was a racist attack but I think we would have thought twice before doing the same to a Chinese. So, partially a xenophobic attack, yes.
This took place at Zhonshan Park Carrefour shop, before veggies's scale staff.
Just horrendus.

I find it's better to be the aggressor when plundering through the supermarkets. Just keep your pace and brush people aside; gently at first, a little more firm if necessary though! They are more accustomed to this, and usually don't give me any fuss. Definitely haven't had anyone try to hit me yet!

see, you as a foreigner should bow down in reverence to their cultural superiority. you being slightly above a really smart monkey in their eyes. (unless your black, in witch case you are lower that said monkey)

You're probably a sweet gal. Girl, this is NE Asia..the natives..not all of them..act like uncivilized animals as you unfortunately experienced. You better get used to it. I lived in South Korea for many years..very similar to Chinese..inconsiderate,selfish,rude,loud,xenophobic,ethnocentric and ILL-MANNERED..in just about ANY PLACE. (metro,shops,schools,stores,bus stations,train stations,etc.) If you go to Taiwan or Japan or Hong Kong or Thailand as I've heard..it's very different..no, not always but generally speaking. (The people have much better manners in those locales/places.) Of course, the staff did nothing..THEY DON'T CARE..Chinese ONLY CARE if it's something involving them or their family/friends or work associates..their immediate CIRCLE/CLAN. * Did you read about the little Chinese 2/3 yr. old girl in..I forget Beijing/Shanghai..that was hit by an A*****E Chinese driver..he didn't even stop..just kept on driving. :( NOBODY there did anything :(..finally an older Chinese man helped her. * That is a prime example of Chinese only caring about themselves. ** So, my advice is NEXT TIME YOU START SCREAMING AT HER..YOU GET IN HER FACE..THE CHINESE DON'T EXPECT THAT BECAUSE THEY THINK IT'S OKAY TO ACT RUDELY TOWARDS FOREIGNERS!! WELL, IT'S NOT!!!!!!!!!! :( YOU NEED TO TAKE THE OFFENSIVE AND LET SUCH A BITCH KNOW THAT HER BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!! * Forget about assuming that many Chinese will show good manners and civility like back home!!!!! (I'm not saying that they're all like that.) * The Chinese LAUGH at foreigners and the good manners that most of us display..they think it's a joke. If I was You - I'll make a "she is crazy or sick in head" move, smile with a pity and go away - just treat her as a poor crazy child.
I wold never hit the women in response, partly because she could have a great guanxi, and all You do will be taken against You. But off course it is up to You if You want to take a risk. I wouldn't 
edit: if You speak chinese You could also (with carefull look) say very loud "oh, You might be sick, would You like me to call a doctor to heal Your head"? or sometring like this...
Shouldn't you file a lawsuit over this? I mean, some foreign guy just got fined 20k for throwing some girl at a swimming pool. If someone pushes you around for no reason you should be able to get a few k at least.
Got a feeling you're not telling the whole story here, i've been in China 7 years and never come across such behaviour. Either that or you were unfortunate enough to come across a genuine mental case. You can find them in any country.
Both are girls so everything is allowed haha but I think the best would've been you start moving, acting and making sounds as a monkey and leave the place moving like that.
We've all read the not so good stories about foreigners' experiences with the police here. You did the right thing in not fighting back, if you did, either that woman or the police would find a way to say that it was your fault all along.
Hope you went back to the gym afterwards and took your rage out on a punching bag or something.

Best not too. China people gang up in the hundreds on any foreigner who fights back. Yet they can kick the sh1t out of the women and each other in the street. Sometimes they act like animals. Askyoung is very correct, they will screw you for as much as they can demanding hospital treatment MRI scans, [mortgage required] and so on. Last year a huge guy at McDonalds in Zjg was being heavy with me, I went outside where his two friends joined him, OK I turned to walk away and they started to laugh and shout, however I was not walking away I was merely removing the coat to put in my car. their attitude soon changed as I headed back towards them and they started to back off. Then out came the phones and my GF informed me that they started to ask their other friends to join in. Never under estimate these people there is no such thing as a one to one ding dong. And no matter what, in the eyes of the Chinese people and the law, you will be seen as the aggressor. Take Care
The tale tale heart of this entire story is the inability to even write a simple sentence. I think there is a bit of gamesmanship. We are being had. Cute though. How long did it take you to write what you wrote. Far more painful I am sure than being hit. Ouch.
