Q: if i delete my account will all my posts go away?

Most software for Forums allows posts to be deleted only from admin side which you can not reach unless you have the proper code words.
In fact, I doubt you can DELETE your acount, maybe you can close it, or stop your membership. But that will be it.
Mr Cat should be the one answering this correctly, my answer is just an educated guess based on previous Forum experiences

When they've (forceably) deleted or temporarily banned people in the past, all of their posts have vanished.

You can delete the account but I highly doubt that your unique content and post will remove because unique content/answer is a commodity in the web.
i'm not going just want to get rid of the evidence i will take a break during my travels.
(i know kchur will miss me the most)
lashing out while pissed(us) or pissed (uk/aus) leaves a trail
and the thought of having to go through 1700 posts makes me want to cry

By now you already have a file and if that's true then they already have all the information saved. So deleting the trail now is just a waste of time. But I don't think you've actually said enough for them to give a shit about anyway.
Please note:
Users can not delete account.
Account can only be deleted by admin and all posts associated with the account will be gone.
Account can also be banned by admin, temporarily or permanently, and all posts associated with the account will stay.
