A plane ticket and a pawsport for starters!
Seriously though, you have to pay for transportation costs. The problem is at the other end when you enter your country. You have to go through all the quarantine requirements which I think may be about 6 weeks. Make sure you read all the legal claws'!!!

I don't think North America has quarantee restrictions. The animal has to have vacinations and rabies shot 30 days or more prior to leaving, a Vet check the day before shipping, and there is paper work to do, they get really fussy even at home filling them in, no writting, no scratching out, no scribbling outside the line (honest). I've shipped cats all over and it's a pain with the forms. Here in Canada its threw the dept of Agriculture.

A cat can be taken with a passenger as carry on luggage sometimes and put below the seat, but the paper work I believe is different. I think you only need the Vet check and rabies/vacination certificate.

Cats - All domestic cats must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when
examined at the port of entry. If the animal is not in apparent good health, further examination by
a licensed veterinarian may be required at the owner's expense.

There is no requirement for a rabies certificate but most airlines require a veterinarian’s health
certificate. Cats arriving in Hawaii or Guam, both of which are free of rabies, are subject to
locally imposed quarantine requirements.
