Q: if it rains so much , why does everything seem so dirty in China?

Everything looks dirty to me, outside and in. I'm curious as I rains alot, but everything has dirt on it.

In general it is windy in China, and air carries dust particles with it.  Evn if it does rain during raining season, exhaust from  factories, construction of new buildings, traffic, etc , tend to contribute to a "dusty" place.  The closer to a main avenue with lots of traffic, or the lower the apartment is within a building will increase your dust problem.

It's because China is just a plain dirty dirty place.  Both figuratively and literally.  The dirt is like the mail, it just keeps coming ang coming and coming...it never stops.

When building large roads and other infrastructures, China often use concrete or tar. However, for basic infrastructure like pavements, they simply use sand and bricks. As you can imagine, when it's raining, sand an rain together make very nice dirt (as when children play in a sandbox). Then, since the upper layer is made of bricks, the dirt goes through the bricks.
