Q: If you have a residence permit about to expire, is it possible to get a stay permit of 30 days?

Is there any situation where a PSB can grant a stay permit of 30 days while not cancelling the work visa of that residence permit?

I answer it in PM. Lem'me c&p for pints:

Yes, that is Chinese law.

You must receive 30-days visa on top of the date of RP expiration. In Hebei I got 30-days L, 30-days RP extension in Xinjiang, or 30-days S2 visa in Fujian.

School should take you to PSB some two weeks before the end of RP. They must bring all their papers, and PSB will keep your passport for a week (5 working days), and return it with new 30-days visa.

You can use that either for preparation for exit from China (traveling around) or if you intend to work in China further, your new employer will need to apply for new FEC, you must complete new MExam, and finally visit to PSB for new Contract length RP extension.

You aren't required to exit China, or you can't exit China till you don't get passport of PSB with new RP.

You can get more info by dialing SAFEA (Foreign Expert Bureau) in your Province.

Enter 'SAFEA' in search above for address and contact numbers in your Province. Everywhere I dialed (5 different Provinces) fluent English speaker answered the call.

If you're renewing Contract with the same school, PSB won't get you 30-days visa. That's not necessary, because extension of RP is very simple: come to PSB with School's rep a week before RP expiration, give them your passport, and you'll get it back a week later with new RP. You aren't required to do new MExam, and FEC can also be extended very quick.

If you change your employer or if you decide not to work in China anymore, then 30-days visa is warranted on the top of RP expiration date.

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
