Q: If you were witness to a fight between a foreigner and a Chinese, what would you do?

Let's say you saw a fight between a foreigner and Chinese -- it doesn't matter who started it.  What would you do?  Would you intervene?  Would you continue on your way? Would you wait for the police to tell the police what you saw?

Getting involed in any way always ends up with you getting hurt, or spending a long time at the police station explaining why you were in the middle.
So I'd just look, sigh, and lose a bit more faith in humanity.

Same thing I would do at home.... ignore it unless someone is being beaten to death.

.... of course, if it were 981 being beaten to death, I'd likely break my own ribs from laughing so hard. 981977405

I have never seen a fight between foreigners and the locals.  That being said, I did learn from the local police that there was a small group of Canadians who caused a big ruckus in a downtown bar, broke furniture etc,. etc.  The locals brought friends and it really degenerated.  The locals were exonerated because everyone on site agreed  with their version and the Canadians were remanded to jail, then fined and deported, except for one who may or may not have been Canadian because he was using a forged / fraudulent / doctored passport.  Last I heard, he was still in jail.  He claimed to be from British Columbia, somewhere in the Okanagan Valley but the passport was so fraudulent, as was the Chinese visa inside, that I don't think that the Embassy could even tell.

thedude:

Damn those ugly Canadians...the scourge of China. All they do is drink beer, watch hockey and get in bar brawls....oh and forge passports too. China should deport them all eh??

If the foreigner deserved to get beaten then I just might help the Chinese. That or take video to show the cops.

I'd probably wait around to see what happens. Just in case the police arrives and they need someone to tell them what they saw. I probably wouldn't know either person so I would take a look than go on my way especially if the fight is boring. I wouldn't want to take a photo or video because it would be a waste of time. I like MMA not stupid street fights.
