To marry a Chinese, the Marriage Bureau will require a paper issued by the US Embassy or Consulate stating that you are single and free to marry that particular Lady.  Must make an appointment with Consulate and request it, takes about 1 hour of wait for it.

Now, in order to get this paper, you must prove to the Consular Official that you are not married, by presenting divorce papers if divorced, or death certificate if widower.  I have no idea how you can prove you were never married before.

The Chinese Marriage Bureau will also require your passport, a couple of wedding photos (both of you with red background), a fee of less than 10 yuan, and documents from your future wife, plus her huckou booklet.

ambivalentmace:

you know longer have to provide proof , just put date of divorce and sign an affadavite under penalty of perjury and your good to go. i did this last march, 330 rmb or 50 dollars for the document, they notorize the document and you use the original for your marriage.

Tell the girl you go out to buy cigarettes and than run over to the embassy of your American country and explain your situation to them.

If they hear your story you have a good chances that they fly you out secretly.

Good luck.

You need whatever your country grants as a singles certificate. Some nations are as simple as signing an undertaking. Some are a big pain. For my country I just signed an undertaking and was done in minutes.

Then, as happy expat says, you need the wedding pics of you two together. Be prepared for a bunch of running around the day you sign.

Just another thought if you run into a lot of bureaucracy in getting your single certificate.  Book a cruise ship, and when at high seas ask the captain to marry you.  It will be a legal marriage, providing you two are free to be married.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
