If you have an afternoon free you should go up to the top of Mount Everest. I heard the view is great.

Divedude, yeah mostly just cos it's there. If it's like any other tourist attraction you can probably buy a t-shirt and enjoy a bowl of tasty instant noodles at the souvenir shop there and take countless selfies.

You do know that you can’t just go there. A foreigner needs a expensive tour gUide and 4by4 if I remember correctly

id forget lhasa

Hotwater:

You won’t need a 4x4 in Lhasa...it’s easy enough to walk round...

ain't that the place where they say it's hard to breathe for some?  I know a China girl went there, or was it Tibet, or are they the same place?  Anyway, she said they sold bottles of O2 everywhere,,, that's pretty wild!  what a place!  Bet it's hard on a smoker though...

Potala Palace,Jokhang temple,yamdrok lake ,Nam lake ...

Foreigners cant go Tibet by yourself ,you have to sign up a certified  travel agency, and they will arrange a tour guy go with you(only to certain places)  that's the info from several years ago not sure if there is any changes. I went to a foreigner bar& restaurant in Lhasa, and saw a couple of foreigners there by themselves.

Suggest you go to west sichuan or qinghai, its quite similar ...I met many backpacker foreigners in Qinghai province ,can go there easily,I even have one tour guide 's contact information in Xining,English speaking and they have day tour to nearby attractions.

West of Sichuan :it's kind of tough if you dont have your own car, need to check information exactly where you go,i remember 10 years ago I went to Daocheng-yading,foreigners were not allowed to go at that time, the police came to the bus to check if there was any foreigners .
