Most Chinese have no concept of the value of their time. You expect to miss dinner on Friday night because the boss decides Friday afternoon that every one is working late.

A person bargains for 40 minutes to save 10 rmb on a purchase, not realizing what he could have been doing for himself or family for those 40 minutes.

I am not quite sure or if ever Asian cultures will get this, on the other hand, they will talk about the 1895 war like it was yesterday, Arabs also have this habit, past history is a current important topic.

As this thread is about washing fabric, this seems a good place to share an observation of logic when it comes to cleaning.

My MIL has four flannels for wiping down the kitchen surfaces. She cycles their use in pairs, one pair being available for use in the kitchen, the other pair hanging on the balcony for sunlight magic. She seems to swap what pair she uses depending on how many wipes they do. That is, she does not alternate what pair is in action by time period. To me it is arbitrary. But I am trying to work it out.

Anyway, after cooking,  she will clean the kitchen with whatever pair of flannels are on duty.

But she rinses them in the bathroom sink.

Yup. She takes a flannel from the kitchen to the bathroom, rinses it, back to kitchen... wipe... back to bathroom, rinse.

Understandibly, I sometimes find this annoying, so I often retire to sit on the front balcony to read the news and drink a beer.

It is at this point of course when she decide the flannels in use have to be swapped with the ones “ resting” on the balcony.

I often elect to visit the bar at this point, as the simple act of wiping the kitchen down has actually rendered half of the apprtment unusable.

The bar is my safe spot. Because guess what.

Yup, after the kitchen is cleaned, the floor mop comes out.

Its at this point where the wife starts to lose the rag with her. I prefer not to be there.

So VIcky. Chuck your mum out and hire a maid

Ambi, you could take the trash and dump it outside in the community bins before it begins to smell . . . but that's a different kind of logic.

My mother just screamed and criticized me. That is really insane.
She made the lunch herself, I was taking a nap upstair. She went to me and screaming to me madly, saying I'm not listening to her like her other two daughters do and blamed me for not make lunch and blame on me for not eat lunch and blame me for dragging her from doiing other housework because I do not want to eat lunch. And playing victim card saying she's I'll and I do not go make lunch. Come on, that is completely dramatic and insane.

I traveled long way to back home to just take 4 days vacation, can I get some peace?

If she wants me to make lunch. just tell me. Want me to do plate wash, tell me. I appreciate she can act like an adult,,but unfortunately, she learnt all those insane village women skills for wanting to control me in her way.

My mother can not read and never tried to learn.She is not even independant, she is even afraid of going out of our city alone.

She wants everyone try to please her and everyone to guess what she thinks.I'm very tired with her though I love her.

I think the big problem with her weird mindset is because she never attended school in her life she does not understand what TV plays and can not read, she's weak and afraid if learning and trying things.
My younger sister is just like her, only make around 3000rmb and not trying to change her life. I gave her suggestion to open a shop on taobao, she told me she does not know. My mother spoke highly of my younger sister because she bargain for every penny. They are just negative people.

My sisters even told that education is useless. lol, foolish mindset! Like trump said, most people won't get succeed without education. Only few people without university degree got succeed,,but only few, and those few studied hard for making up the lost education in university.

My sisters did not have the right mindset to achieve success in their career then said degree is useless.

I have a degree,,but not from good university but still a degree. I used it well, I used it to land job from company and keeps learning and now I make decent money and be a manager and now I am running my own business. I studied English language in university, I used the language for doing business with overseas. I even keep improving my English till now I can speak English very fluently. Because I have learnt a lot of English in middle school,,high school and university, it is easier to improve based on the earlier education.

I learned law, so I use law to protect myself now.

I studied literature and art, it helps my visual of seeing things.

I studied math, it helps me while I am dealing financial stuffs in my business.

People who said education is useless is just dumb. Education is very important. I have seen many guys dropped from university and hard to land jobs now.

Don't be lazy, do more work, make more money, buy big house.
