Q: Intense clampdown on the GFW - what happened to my Google Chrome?

It was just another day of me browsing the internet and then bang! Right out of nowhere my internet browser (Google Chrome) just completely restarts on me. Upon reopening it I noticed that I was no longer signed into my account. I then tried to log back in but, to no surprise, my ability to use the Chrome access page is inconsistent, sometimes I can access it and other times I can't (I currently don't have a VPN). I just don't know, sth seems really fishy about all of this...

OK, I found the cause for no load on Opera this am:

'disable VNP embedded in Opera, and it works well! No Reuters, thou ....'

It looks, GW-block-managers got Opera's VPN in 'jail'.

MF, I let them know about it with last night's post. Opera worked so well last night, I wanted everybody know about it. Fok it, I shouldn't ...

I have problems with Safari OS longer time. Page just doesn't load, and I blame it on lousy Internet connection .....but, every Windows based puter loads on my Internet without any problems. So, it is either Safari or OS X.

I changed my browser to 'Opera' yesterday and it's a blast (for now!).

Everything loads normally as it loads on the western Internet (with Safari).

Have a try and you can run Opera together with present OS and compare both browsers, and if Opera won't work for you, you can just delete it and run Chrome again or try any other browser.

I can tell Safari OS sucks (in China) comparable to Opera. Apparently, Safari OS automatically change page's owner IP address and .... in short 'BS at Mac! (without Windows)'.

No load happened only in China. I didn't have any problems in India a month ago. Load from Himalayan Internet is blast!

I gave up on Google - reluctantly - ages ago and use Mozilla now. I'm happy enough with Mozilla.

weird,,, Safari Version 10.0.3 (12602.4.8). works pretty well for me.  some embedded video clips won't play,,,, like on Chive or some news sites, but I always just blamed that on their server or lack of bandwidth maybe.  I haven't bothered with a VPN in a long time because I always found them to be a painintheass. Also I'm not dying to access any blocked sites. But anyway Safari works fine for me.

icnif77:

I tried Safari again, after I read your post. I have Safari Version 10.1 (12603.1.30.0.34) and it loads well today.

I have '77' Internet users displayed on my wi-fi in business hours and no load. Now, everybody left offices for Qing Ming and that's change in load I see today on Safari. I am sure, there won't be any load next Wednesday on Safari.

However, I'll stay with Opera for now.

Is the most recent Opera version with built-in and highly effective VPN not available in China?

So, you guys think that the reason for my Chrome going down was more internal rather than from outside interference?

icnif77:

There's every day new article on Y! on 'how to fix ...Windows', so you might not be the only one with similar troubles.

'Reinstall Windows 10' is today's suggestion:
