Q: An interesting question for people with IQ over 200
This is an interesting question from QQ space,it is said only people with IQ over 200 could give the answer. Actually there are 11 questions in total,i just name one, and this is a question asked in a job interview.
Three guys went to a hotel to stay.The waiter of the hotel said they charged 30 dollars for a single room per night.So,each guy gave 10 dollars to the waiter.But when the waiter handed money to the manager,the manager told him they were giving discounts to customers on that day and only charged 25 dollars.He asked the waiter to give the extra 5 dollars back to customers.The waiter left 2 dollars to himself and returned each customer 1 dollar.
In this case,each customer handed out 10 dollars at first,and got 1 dollar back later.So,each one paid 9 dollars,they paid 27 dollars in total,plus 2 dollars the waiter left to himself,they amounted to 29 dollars (9*3+2=29) .The question is :where was the rest 1 dollar?(25+2+1*3=30)
The Price Each Pays Is 25/3... 8.33
8.33 * 3 + 3*1 + 2 = 30

You're wrong.. Your solution violates a premise which is not allowed.
They each paid $10 and eacb got $1 back. You can't manipulate this since it's a fact.
So they each paid $9 for a total of $27 dollars..

It is very simple, there is just some redundancy here,
Let us put it in a simple way,
The waiter took 30 dollars from the 3 customers, which is 10 dollars each.
How was it spent?
The hotel took 8.33 dollars from each customer, which is a total of 25 dollars.
The waiter took 0.67 dollars from each customer which is a total of 2 dollars.
So each guy payed net of 9 dollars, and got a change of 1 dollar
Hint: The 2 dollars the waiter gets comes from the 9 dollars that each customer payed.

2+25= 27 for hotel and waiter 27 divided by 3 equals 9
they actually each paid 8 dollars and 33.33333333 for the hotel but when you add the waiters 2 dollars each paid him 66.666666666 a peace so add them both you get 9 dollars paid and 1 dollar for each remaining
making 25 for the room with the reduced fee
the waiter got a 2 dollar tip
2+25=27
they each got a dollar 1* 3 =3
3+27= 30 dollars
30 dollars total

This is a good one that made me do a double-take.
If you look closely, one of the conclusions made is wrong.
The cost of the hotel is made to be $30 at first, but then they get a discount to $25. The waiter keeps $2 which means they *need* to pay $27 in total ($25 due to manager + $2 due to waiter).
Each person paid $10 at first, and then got $1 back. So they paid 9*3 = 27 dollars.
They owed $27 dollars and they paid $27...
The correct answer is: THERE IS NO MISSING DOLLAR

thanks man it was problems like this that tricked people into thinking i was a genius when i was a kid.
We learnt the math for those sort of questions back in Junior High in Australia 
This isn't an IQ style question, more a trick math question. I remember a friend asking me the same thing ages back.
Also there are numerous explanations online.
Edit: Americans usually have less problems with this as they are more inclined to use fractions than decimals.

Most of the math above is called 'R hand to L pocket' math! 'Around the a$$', that's it!

The real question should be, with the guys each having one dollar, were they able to get a massage at that hotel?
I'm not gonna do the exact math, but the dollar is lost in fractions. The guys didn't pay 9 dollars. They paid ten and got a rebate of 1.
Forget the math, that part is easy, let's look at the real issues: Why are 3 guys checking in to a SINGLE room? Who, in their right mind, would pay a WAITER for their hotel room? Why would the "waiter" not just steal the entire $5? Any hotel would have issued a receipt after payment, so it would have been charged $30. And where the hell can you find a hotel room for $30 (or $25 a night)?!?!
The CORRECT answer to this question is: It doesn't matter as this scenario is completely implausible. 3 men paying $30 to a waiter for a single hotel room would NEVER HAPPEN.

The whole story is 'riddle fiction'. It doesn't have anything to do with reality.
In reality, why 3 guys on the budget wouldn't check into single room, and pay for the room to a bellboy or bartender?
Most posters get taken by story. I call them 8.33 guys.

MrTibbles,I like your answer ,it's quite insightful,but i don't agree on some points as i do think the condition in this case can happen in real life.The reason are as follows.
1, Maybe the three guys were still teenagers studying in a junior high or something,if so,probably they wouldn't have enough money to have three rooms.Or maybe they were from a poor country and just arrived in America or maybe they were gays and planned to have 3P (It's possible),or maybe there was only one room left in the hotel at that night,there are just more than enough reasons.
2, Though the waiter was dishonest,he was afraid that maybe the manager would ask the three guys whether they had got some money returned.So,he just took 2 dollars,he could still say he give money back to the customers and the customers would also say they had got the money when being asked.
3, The waiter could give the customers a receipt with the amount of 27 and change the number 7 to 5 on the page he kept,it's easy to change 7 to 5,you know.As he had left 2 dollars to himself,he had enough motivation to do that.
4,There are many small hotels charging 30 dollars per night for a single room except in big cities,not to mention there are cheap rooms in many big hotels as well.In addition,it doesn't tell when the story happened,maybe tens of years ago.
