Q: International school Chinese mixed child

My wife checked some websites and said Chinese nationals are no accepted in international school..

I am married to Chinese and my kid is holding Chinese passport... But for obvious reasons I don want to send her to Chinese school... Didn't check with the schools yet as she is only 8 months old now ... Still do anybody know anything like this? Do i Have to change her nationality just to get access to international school?

There are lots of "international" schools that accept Chinese nationals.  However, there are also "foreign national" schools that only accept non-Chinese nationals.

The main reason for this is that the curriculum of those schools do not match the curriculum of the Chinese school system so the credits are not transferable between the two.

Now, funny enough, I just tried to register my 4-year-old boys in a Chinese school and I was told they do not accept foreign kids because they are not as "well behaved" as Chinese kids.  It took all my will not to laugh in the woman's face when she said that.

I was expecting all international schools to accept her as her father is foreigner and have foreigner lifestyle.... Is it some government rule that some cannot accept children with Chinese passport? Or it's just schools policy to prevent their school be flooded with rich Chinese kids?

For the real foreign schools in China, by law, they can only accept students with non-Chinese passports.

There's those Maple Leaf schools that do the Canadian curriculum and when the student graduates from High School they have both Canadian and Chinese certificates.

They have foreigners and Chinese, and classes are taught in English.
