Q: Internet issues again?

So my vpn takes forever to actually log in and often requires multiple attempts, and steam and pc games are practically unusable now. Anyone else having issues? Is it China or my stupid internet provider?

My vpn stopped working very soon after someone asked the question about free vpns, and some idiot mentioned the vpn I use.

DrMonkey:

Lesson learned ^^ I think I would go mad without a VPN for a week, so I understand the frustration. I give my VPN only face to face.

My internet has got really slow, I recently 'upgraded' to a higher speed connection but it made no difference.

My VPN is ok sometimes, usually I have to change servers a lot though but I don't think it's VPN problem, I think it's that the internet has slowed down a lot.

A friend of mine called her VPN operator for similar issues. China is cracking down on VPN access in the run up to Spring Festival.

Seems there is a crackdown on, started a few days ago. One of my VPN 's gave me a warning. The other one which I use for work/Dropbox access has been having problems last few days as well. Bloody frustrating!

Yes it is here again. Can very slowly connect to news sites, but many game servers are almost inaccessible, need forever try and try again. Since xmass I feel is going down a lot

I agree that the internet has taken a turn for the worse during the past 2 weeks. All the sites that I could visit before are now not loading and if you are talking about foreign news sites, then just forget it.

Every time I use the internet I feel as if I have traveled back in time and am waiting for my 56k dial-up to load. Oh wait  Time travel is not allowed here...

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
