Q: Is it a coincidence that China's economy slows as foreigners are forced to leave?
China is making it harder for foreigners to stay in China by tightening the visa laws to such an extent that many are forced to leave. In addition, China insists that Chinese people be employed in jobs that foreign experts held before.
At the same time the foreigners are being forced out, China's economy is in dire straits. Is there a relationship between the two events?

Back in 1493 Spain kicked out the Jews and the Moors from the last Moorish stronghold of Granada. Their economy tanked soon after, as only the Jewish population could engage in what today we call banking but in those days was called "money lending".
