i thought this title had " hand " in the title.  Think if you are not Chinese it would be difficult to get this job unless you knew someone who worked in a company.

If 'material handling' is a very specialised field which takes training and qualifications - yes.

If not, not a hope! There are 1.6BILLION people in China - many of them have their own problems getting a job, and so are forced to move cities (or provinces) to provide for their families back home.

For you to work in China, you need a sponsor, and you need to get a work visa... why would an employer bother with all that, when they can just get a local to do the job??? So much easier!

As others have said, without either highly specialized skills or awesome Chinese language skills, or both, getting a good job here is next to impossible.

If You are engineer (qualified, certified etc.) and real professional in mentioned "material handling" - find Your homeland factory that makes production in China, and ask them to hire You and send to China as QC and production manager.

Then You will work in China on business visa (because You will not work for Chinese company.

Otherwise - You have to have really special skills and good knowledge of Chinese language to find good job in China - for Chinese company.

There is also question of "what is "GOOD" job for You?
High salary? Questionable... Maybe for CEOs, high level management and rare specialists.

If You "material handling" skills are programming and operating CNC or something like this... sorry, but China have already enough own engineers.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
