Q: Is it illegal to look/apply for a job on Tourist or Student Visa?

I heard this rumor, can anyone confirm that?
I am NOT asking if it is illegal to WORK on any other visa than Working Visa.

It's illegal to obtain a Z-visa while in the country, but many employers work out arrangements with the local authorities anyway. Worst case scenario, you'll have to go back to your country, then go back to China again to start the job.

To answer your actual question , no I don't believe it is illegal to simply apply . I'm pretty sure it's only illegal if you actually work . If you apply and then get a work visa through whatever means (be it leaving the country or arrangements or what have you) before you begin working I'm pretty sure you have done nothing illegal .

I arrived with a 1 month business visa, on the advice of the school who hired me. When i arrived at the school they did all the paperwork, medical and contract. Then they sent their driver to give it in, a week later i got it back.
