Q: Is it legal for minors to buy booze?
Saw a pair of 13-15 year olds in the shop buying Qingdaos. No rule, no law?
If they did that and cops were in the store, anything happen?
To be fair, Chinese is so beer maybe that's why they don't blink.

Apparently not, my students assure me that there is no legal minimum age for buying, or consuming alcohol in China.
That said it isn't a huge part of their culture so it isn't seen as a problem. I am sure if that changes regulations will be introduced.
As of Jan-2006, the minimum drinking age in China is 18. Only

Well if that's correct (and I have no reason to doubt you), I stand corrected. One thing is for sure though, it most certainly isn't enforced in Nanning.

I know, another bad joke, the hits just keep coming. Yeh, seems XpatJohn answered your question, but I will leave you with a story. Was holding a Saturday morning class for kids of 11 and 12 some years back, and as I was writing something on the board I heard the 'psst' sound of a tin being opened, and when I turned to find where it had come from I discovered one of the girls had cracked open a Liquan. Bloody cheek.
