Based on incentives I would think so because why wouldn't they let you spend money here in China?

Anybody who is willing to pay for a degree can get a student visa because the incentive for China is to take IN money. A Korean going to school in China is taking money made in Korea and spending it in China. This is ideal for the chinese.

The reason they are strict about who can come here and get a job on the other hand is because that money can go away. The Korean who is working here might spend as little as possible in China while funneling their money back to Korea.

So if you're already here working legally, where is their incentive to bar you from giving money to a Chinese university?

What China wants from the rest of the world is for them to spend money in China. That's why you can get a tourist visa up until the point where they think you're working here illegally, because then you're not spending your internationally earned money on Chinese things. Same with schools, as long as you're paying money they aren't going to turn you away.

But if you're here to study they don't want you also working...because then you aren't spending money coming in form outside.

Of course it is.I think if you have resident permit,why not.

iWolf:

Why not? Because This, is China and depending upon where you live the rules may be different.

Assuming you have nothing to hide, why not pop into the local PSB and ask them? Chances are good unless it is a fulltime course.

That should be fine. In fact I am doing that myself, additional part-time post graduate studies although i'm doing it online. If you are doing it with a Chinese university I suggest you ask the university.

I had a conversation with one of the universities counselor... She said doing a part time while working is no problem. but there are no scholarships for part-time and obviously the study term will be longer then regular.  The problem will arise if you are unable to renew your Z and if you get a job in a different city. There are virtually no Online courses that I could find here. so the idea of studying with RP is tricky. Of course by this I mean if you doing a regular degree course from a university. you should answer lord_hanson's questions first, then maybe people will be able to give you better answers.

I know people who have taken Chinese classes at a public university while working in China, so from my knowledge the answer to your question is yes.

I am just curious, how effective is pimsleur? I’ve read the reviews online but personally I don’t know anyone who has used it… I was planning to study Spanish next year sometime.. worth investing, time and money? you think?

@Karma... Money?? Huh??? :p

I think it mostly depends on your learning style! I like it for the most part. It's pure Audio-lingual methodology - you listen, you repeat.

If you're more visual, then I'd suggest that Rosetta Stone is better for you. I am partly visual - sometimes I really need to see it to get the sense of it. This is particularly so with some of the words - I need to see the spelling of it to get it right. (So, go download some books, or get the dictionary app, or whatever!)

I can 100% positively say that I've learned stuff from Pimsleur.I still ilke it, and definitely prefer it over Rosetta - I got too bored with it.

I'd also suggest getting your hands on a copy of Linkword. It uses visual associations with English sounding words/phrases. Combine the 2, and I think you'll be zooming along nicely!!!
