Q: Is it possible for border agents to stamp a non-empty visa page?

I'm travelling to Thailand this winter and I'm not sure on this question. My only 5 empty visa pages have stamps already on them, but can the agent stamp them directly no matter there are previous stamps or has anyone been stopped by agents for this and not allowed to stamp it? do i have to get a whole new passport book if this is the only pages I have left?

Yes they can put loads of stamps on a page. Mine used to be over the place, overlapping and totally unreadable, but recently I've started asking them to do it neatly, and surprisingly they actually do it. I've now got all the exit stamps down one side of the page and the entry stamps down the other side.

No, most countries (Chinese too!) exit stamps are small (2x3cm), and empty page isn't required. I have some 10 similar size stamps per page, all from different countries.

Boarder guard will most likely use page close to the valid RP for exit stamp.

I always try to get them to stamp pages that already have stamps. It can keep other pages empty for longer.

yeah as long as theres room for the stamp it doesn't matter if there are other stamps on the page.

But things like Chinese (and some other places too) visas and residence permits take up a whole page and are required to be completely blank to affix the visa on. So as a general rule you want to keep as many blank pages as possible.

I had a buddy who got his visa rejected because there was one tiny HK exit stamp on the last blank page and the consultate wouldn't put the sticker on top of it. He had to go to his own consulate and get extra pages put in which set him back a couple more days. Not a huge deal but a nuissance to be sure.
