Yes, buTT ... Chinese woman will always feel strange to be accompanied by foreigner. In China.

Holding-hands on the stroll through the city was no-no for my girl during the day time and at night, that wasn't a problem whatsoever.

PulSartre:

I totally agree with that observation. To my understanding, holding hands is a step closer to be grabbed by the arms by their boyfriends when they want to dominate them emotionally and psychologically. It is aggresive, a violent cultural and character trait that is both seen as a prove a masculinity, instilling fear and love.

It is confusing an outcome of love, which Western people won't tolerate, let allone consider for a curtoisie. To the Chinese women that is an inherited apprehension of love coming from their malle counterpart, while to us it is a simple display of the "syndrom of Stocholm."

I saw it as a shame ... to holding hands with laowai while walking through the Chinese city.

My Chinese girl originally wanted to come to West, but her English ability was very, very low, so I came to China instead.

Now, that's what she didn't count on it ... being in love with foreigner in China.

I became an English teacher just to be able to come closer to her, but it didn't work out. We split after she refused to give an explanation for heavier financial demand ... It was ... I forgot Chinese word ... dowry to her father, so he would give permission for marriage.

I was planning to buy comfortable flat in China for all three of us (her 17-years daughter from first marriage lived with mom).

Holding hands during the stroll through the city wasn't ever meant to be possessive. It is just a thing what we do in West.

I don't carry wallet or money when I am with LT girlfriend. She does that, he he.

Once, we met her daughter in downtown and she didn't acknowledge us. She was in company with her school friends and she passed us like we're fog. It was definitely laowai thing. Anshan in N. Liaoning.

Why not? Love knows no boundries. And if the first one doesn't work out, perhaps the second one will. After all, the wider the net is cast, the more fish that will be caught

Of course, it's just the same as a Chinese man falling in love with a Chinese woman. If there is the right mix of personalities and attraction then love usually follows.

Yes, of course it is.

My Chinese wife and I (both older) have been married for almost a decade. I love her. She loves me.

In contrast to other's experience, she is comfortable with me in public, and often holds my hand even in the day-time..
