yes, plenty of stupid schools who will hire anyone who looks white or has the right passport, and  they will also hire someone with no experience, as you can see in most job ads online

My first teaching job was ten years ago. I walked in, was asked if I had any experience, and I answered "I have no experience, am poorly educated, partially dyslexic and I think you would be irresponsible to hire me" and I had a room that night and a job the next day.

Yeh, there's work for anyone who can speak English. That's why i'm here.

Hopefully, like me, you are a conscientious person who actually tries his best to do a good job.

  All the best.

Yes, but you won't make good money. Some fly-by-night place will hire you and pay you 2/3, if you're lucky, what a good school pays.

It is easy to get such jobs but be prepared for low wages, poor attitude towards you from the school and coworkers, and the stigma of being an English teacher from many other expats.

Some of the above is not true nor completely accurate; the ESL job market in China remains red hot and almost anything goes, the truth be said.  If an employer has  an imminent need for a foreign teacher, then this is the PRC and all kinds of miracles are possible.  I have seen it happen.

Yes, but you'll get a contract and job with no guarantees. What you bring to the table decides what you get served.

Absolutely! But please don't make this a growing trend. It's already bad as it is! I'm switching my career to a more lucrative pay and better people to work with in the future. Have fun teaching because I won't be for long!

As an international paralegal and knowing from the immigration law,

I would say it's possible for you to get a job because of what people mention above,

but technically it might lead you to work and stay illegally, unless you can apply a working visa /Z visa based on what you have now,

But as College degree is needed or you will be required to provide Corresponding qualifications of what you work at during the time you apply for working visa, without working visa is considered as illegal which leads to Liabilities, unless you are lucky enough you won't never known.

All this info is for your reference,

it is easy to get a job as a teacher even if u have no qulification, because now more and more chinese value english,at the same time,no more teachers to do this, especially foreigners.so once they see u r with different skin colour,it will be much eaier.but they prefer to white people from UK  USA.

what a pity! the government should do sth to make this right.

If you have a passport from one of the Big 5 scheduled countries, even without "qualifications" you will be available to find a job somewhere here.  if you come from another area, and if you do not have qualifications, then you are going to have to look much more diligently.  As many have pointed out, you will be left at the entire mercy of the employer most of the time.

Most of the Africans that I know in China -- I mean personally know -- are being scammed by their employers all the time -- unpaid wages, underpaid wages, the worst living conditions on the face of the earth, visa promises made by not kept.  Worse than that, there is a little dirty trick that goes on around here, and particularly in Heilongjiang Province -- a school will promise the African teacher a job, the teacher arrives, there is no visa, the teacher is paid RMB 3,000 per month, if the teacher does poorly, Immigrationm "suddenly" arrives and the teacher is deported.  I have seen this little game over and over.

In the end, be EXTREMELY careful please.
