Q: Is it time for this forum to flush out the multiple accounts?
Check the IPs, out those with more than one account. Not ban them, just publically shame them. I have nothing to hide, please Admin, let's do that. Anyone else?
I don't know if you could do it based on the current system, but it would be great if it could be done.
On a side note...has anybody else noticed that certain posts by certain people have catipulted to the top of the most popular list for no apparent reason.
Some have gone up by 500+ hits in one single day for older obscure posts...hmmmmm...maybe it's just me?

I also notice certain users always have the exact number of people agreeing with the certain users comments, despite only one person posting such agreement.....
Perhaps those multiple accounts belonging to the same IP could be closed, and only a primary account be used...

I think admin does OK. The Cat just deletes the posts quietly, and bans the lunatics. But it doesn't stop them spewing venom when they get back on...

Traveler, point well noted. The venom just flows but it says more about them than about anyone else. Demented little people but really, really I think that one well-known demented one around here has at least 4 - 5 personalities on this Board.
It should be like facebook and like what the Chinese government requires on most blog sites here. People should need to log in with their real names and identities. It would cut down on the verbal abuse and verbal violence. I am still stunned how one user told another user here that he wanted to put a gun to his head or something like that. In the States, that is illegal these days and would get one jail time. It's time for some responsbility around here, like it or not.

Internet stalking and harassment has been a crime in the States for the past several years. It's on the books and it's a federal statute, not a state statute. And threatening to kill or maim someone, well, that's truly over the top and against the law.

I've found two in the UK that involved creating fake facebook pages and such....none for just calling someone like you an A-hole. Of course that would likely go under libel anyway, and a defense for that would be "truth." And I'm pretty sure I could prove to the court you're an a-hole. Also, drunk jokes? Really? Such a sad life, and so lonely in China. I have met a lot like that in my work, and it''s always a shame to see a life wasted. The ones who lash out here are the problems in China's education system, and the Chinese Government is quickly taking steps to get rid of them. Known facts: This morning Mattaya"s name was not on the Top User List, not on the On Line list. He has not been on line for the whole day. and his profile is "off limits". Funny though, hardly no "down thumbs" either. It seems the nail that sealed the coffin was gaining 500 points within 12 hours time. For those that pay attention, for the last three or four days his posts developed a "very high positive response". Well, in my book his 5 minutes are over, if he returns I do hope he has learned a lesson. From now on, ignore him, and that will be the best response.
I do have a question for those who know more about computers than me. I ran a Forum for almost 10 years, I am familiar with the Admin side and the possibilities available. I had a poster who had multiple accounts. He had a few computers at home, and had of course different IP for each one. I finally caught him when he used the wrong computer for a post. But anyway, my question is, can a person use different computers for multiple personalities and will show up as different IP's, or the provider will supply only one IP ?. And for the record, I do not have any extra accounts.

Well... to play "Devil's Advocate" I have two computers. Both are wifi capable, and portable, so my IP changes depending on what network I'm logging in from (and whose signal I'm leaching off of).
If some miscreant had one or more machines, and/or easy access to multiple unsecured wifi signals and/or hot spots they could, conceivably, cause a great deal of headaches...
(Relax...! I only have the one account! Put away those stones!)

If multiple computers are logged onto the same home network, to the outside world, they will all have the same IP address assigned by their Internet provider. The most common way for Schizo users to show multiple IPs is to log out of the Internet and then back in since their Internet Provider will provide them with a new IP almost every time.
A sneakier way to do it is through VPN's. With the VPN that I use, I can make it look like I am logging in from almost 1,000 different places from around the world. But, since I am an inherently lazy SOB, clicking the "change IP address" button on my VPN interface was just too much trouble.
Though, I do have to give myself a pat on the back. I kept my new years resolution to never reply to any of Mattie's inane little posts.

Read the new notice. Our feline overlord has done some house cleaning on people using multiple accounts to give themselves points. I won't name any names, but Mattie now has 4 whole points. Bwahahaha
The only issue, NM, is that my niece logs in from my house sometimes too, and I believe sh e will show the same IP as me. If there are others who genuinely have two people using echinachities in the house, that's gonna screw one of them.

Besides I have 4 legit IP's...So I have 4 legit attempts at this place.
but I use only one IP per website (like here, only one) and i use my real name, as my main reason to come here (initially) was to check what kind of job this place has to offer so i use one IP and my real name. so if there was a job i would apply for and upload VC/Resume i am legit.
