Q: IV treatments, do they work?

They are touted as authentic western medicine but Ive never seen them used back home outside people who are hospitalized for serious issues.

All they do for me is lighten my wallett and make me need to pee a lot. Sure some people feel great afterwards but do you feel they make you get better faster?

Are you talking about using an IV to control the dosage/ dilute a medication, or just using only the IV as the treatment? Cause if you are just talking about only the IV, well I'd say keep an army medic close. Not only does it help if you have an extreme day of military training, but it's a great way to get over some of the worse hangovers possible.

An IV seems to be the cure for everything in Asia. Do you have a cold? Get an IV. Are you fatigued? Get an IV. Many times there are antibiotics in the IV, whether they are helpful to you or not. Obviously if is the common cold, it won't do crap unless you are seriously dehydrated. My theory is that people here eat a lot of MSG and don't drink enough water, so the IV rehydrates them and they feel better. I also think that a lack of proper hydration is the reason why people feel like they need to spit all the time, but maybe it is just me. Seriously people, just drink some water, it has the same effect, and is more natural.

IV does nothing that drinking a little gatorade can't do. Chinese hospitals just count on the local people being too stupid to know better.

China overdo the IV thing big time. My partner gets the flu and used to go to the local Dr for a drip for an hour a day for 3 or 4 days and supprise supprise IT Shock made her feel better. Well even Rhino horn could have done that. It has antibiotics and I tred to tell her about the resistance build up from their overuse. It has taken a while but she now believes me and just rests if she has a cold and after getting her flu shot last year in Australia has not had the flu since.

A:Your potential employer is right! Purpose of the Medical exam before granting Z visa is to make sure, you won't be entering China in any abnormal and harmful to others condition.Few days after your arrival to China, you'll be required to complete another ME ... If ME in China will be OK, you'll get a Residence permit stamp into your book some 10-days afterwards. Imagine, you're an employer, who can sponsor my entry and work in China, but after my arrival to China would be found I carry some sickness, which would prevent Chinese .gov to issue a Residence permit. Rule is: Z visa should be converted into Residence permit in 30-days after entry to China.    So, my advice is:"Complete ME in your home country and forward medical results to your employer".Z visa grant will follow shortly afterwards. Employer is not wrong at their demand for the pre-arrival ME from your home country hospital.   -- icnif77
