Q: Just curious: how much do you pay for a haircut where you live in China?

I've seen a couple other posts about spending more than a few hundred rmb on a haircut and that seems ridiculous! Or does it?

I go to a mid-upperscale chinese-run salon near sanlitun (beijing) and my haircuts are 60 rmb (the "masters" cost 100 rmb)... and they do the whole hair wash / massage / coffee thing too. Seriously, the best haircuts I've ever gotten have been in Beijing.

So, are haircuts more or less expensive, better or worse quality where you live in China?

I can get a haircut, no wash or anything else, for as little as 3 Rmb locally.  If I want a scalp massage, it goes to about 10 Rmb, if includes a hair wash prior to, another after haircut, and a scalp massage, as much as 20 Rmb.

And of course, if I want any further "massages", it may go up to 50 Rmb.

It beats the haircuts back home, there it was done mostly by a man, and charged at least $ 25.00, here you have a good looking chick, who sort of "rubs" against you 1/2 of the time, does her best to please your requests, and best of all, you do not TIP  at the end.

The cost of clippers divided by how many times I use them.

I can't believe two boys have posted to this thread. Is this what a "metrosexual" is?

Yeah I pay 10Y also. I am sure you can get a lot cheaper but the barber does a decent job so I just go back there all the time.

The price range is from 20-300 RMB. If you want a specific hairstyle, just take a picture with you if you don't speak Chinese.

I pay RMB 60 for my haircut which includes wash. This is in Beijing, Wangfujing area. My friends told me it is too expensive as they spend only RMB 15 at the hutongs.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
