I know that karaoke are popular in China. In my quest to make moar Chinese friends, I thought about hanging in karaoke. Music is good way to make friendships and tighten bonds between people. Plus i'm quite the talented singer. My best performance is "Living la vida loca" from Ricky Martin. I even have my own choreography!
Problem is, only karaoke places i know are closed ones. I'm hesitant to knock on door, introduce myself with a high five and start sing on a table.
So instead, is there any open karaoke where one can perform in front of everyone? Or do anyone know if there is karaoke where it would be acceptable?

An open karaoke? In all of China? You might want to specify where you live if you want people to give you helpful answers, my 'Merican friend.
I'm sure you can find people who'd be willing to sing with you. I don't think you need to limit yourself at karaokes, though. They're super expensive, so people going there usually have a plan in mind and come with their group of friends.
Make friends on the bus, in the subway or in the street...probably easier
I remember once, many moons ago, going to a karaoke bar in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, which had an 'open' karaoke section. There was a stage, and a karaoke machine, and seating around the edge. Although nobody was singing at the time, it was possible to 'perform' in front of a crowd, should you wish.
So, I'm sure they exist all over China, but I've no idea how you would find them. Maybe ask your Chinese friends? Or just do some suggestive pelvic thrusting in a policeman's face, he will get your drift soon enough.
We fight in KTV a lot~ cause everyone wants to get the microphone!
So, that's not the best way.
Sowwy, was talking about Beijing! And I can't do my signature pelvic thrust to policeman! Even though Chinese are very very short, I'm not that tall myself. Or maybe the policeman would be on his knees. Are they religious people? It seems not. And China don't like homosexuals much, if my perception of foreign countary is good
