Q: Is laser eye surgery safe and expensive in China?

My girlfriend is having eye issues and since my mother got the laser surgery done, I recommended she do the same thing.

Thing is, as far as I remember it was expensive as hell in Europe or North America, probably in the 2,500-3000 dollar range for both eyes.

Anyone have any idea how much it goes for here? Is it common?

With so many Chinese wearing glasses, seems to me like it would be one of the most lucrative businesses around...

I had a close Chinese friend who had the laser eye surgery maybe 6 months ago at a local hospital (called Army Hospital).  It was a success, he wers no glasses now, and claims to have very goos vision on both eyes.  His cost was 4,000 Rmb, and covers hospital, doctor and check up visists for a year afterwards.

He was supposed not to see TV or computer screens for one month after surgery, take some different pills religiously, and in summary, he is quite happy he did it.
