My school is very bad and so have finally put in my resignation letter today I have only worked 4 months of a 12 months contract..
I have always followed everything, as is required of me as a teacher, but the school keeps on overboarding my schedules with lessons, always have to remind them to pay me on payday if not
they will not pay as well my headmaster ask to do more things than i can do and he has not in the last 4 months given me a signed contract copy keeps on giving excuses tomorrow next day.
For some reasons now, the school cannot accept the fact that I have resigned,. In fact, I heard from a chinese senior teacher has said that my headmaster will make it very hard for me to leave. So I suppose he will try and muck up my documents for release and has in past shafted previous teachers on the annual contract bonus of 6000 rmb and witheld their monthly salaries as well as invoke to cancel their visas and refuse to give out release/reference letters.
Any advise please on how to get my release letters and keep my RP and get my pay without being shafted as he is rumored to be a tough ruthless headmaster , and also what sort of help can I get from any government agencies, to ensure that my departure is not made difficult. Thanks!

Visit SAFEA in your city. It is the same office, where you got your FEC. Usually, SAFEA's office is where all other Government offices are. One big building, with Chinese flags outside. Other name for SAFEA is Foreign Expert Bureau.
If you don't know SAFEA's location, you can:
- ask your boss: 'Can you tell me please, where is SAFEA?' You will see the difference in boss behaviour after that;
or
- visit Bank, where you hold an account, or any other Bank for that matter. Banks in China usually have at least one English speaking person. Bankers will help you with address and exact location.
If you are in the smaller city, you might need Chinese English translator for interview at SAFEA. Bring copy of Resignation letter to the interview.
SAFEA will help you with retrieval of Release Letter, and FEC cancelation certificate. Your last salary too!
SAFEA won't help you, if you're working with wrong Visa. Good luck!
I suggest do five things in the following order so you don't get screwed out of your release letter which you need to get your next job...
1. Collect your release letter and final pay on the same day even if you have to wait 2 hours for someone to prepare it. Say "thank you for the opportunity" with a smile and good-bye to your friends and fellow-victims
2. Delete anything and everything you ever put into that school's computer, especially any personal information or your own ppts. or lesson plans unless you want to gift them to the school.
3. Go to your bank and change your account number so you will not become a future victim of identity theft. Any staff member at that "bad school" could be earning an extra 5,000 yuan by selling personal info on "old teachers" to and ID theft ring. (It happened to a colleague of mine, so stop rolling your eyes)
4. Help warn your fellow teacher colleagues by sending a detailed report about why you left to the CTA and CFTU (China Teacher's Alliance & China Foreign Teachers Union)
5. If that "bad school" was/is doing anything illegal, unethical, or "scammy" send the information to ChinaScamBusters.com, ChinaScamPatrol.com, and tell your story in the teaching forum at TheBeijinger.com
Now move on with your life and before you take another teaching job be sure to check the CFTU or CTA China school blacklist. My girlfriend just learned her lesson the hard way but we sure know better for next time!

1. I got promise from the School in Dalian, I will get RL before my last working day! We parted on the 'good' terms, however School (and students) weren't happy, I resigned! I depart Dalian without RL. SAFEA helped me to get RL and last pay!
3. Nobody can access your Chinese Bank account for withdrawal! Unless, you didn't make your Bank account personal info (password) public. I still hold all my old Bank accounts without any 'outside' interference!
