Once Canada has assumed it's rightful ownership of the disputed USA and other territories, then that puts USA behind China ............... and When China takes control of it's disputed territories then that will put the USA down some more.
Antarctica is pretty big, ....real big....... but I think the Eskimoes of Canada and the Aboriginals of Australia and a percentage for the Laplanders (Norway, Finland,Sweden,Denmark) ...note I disregard siberians on purpose..... they have room to move .......
China will be bigger soon if not now is my answer.
I'm not sure debate was the right term. I guess I should have said let's discuss the main issue.
ie. what to measure
I think the politicians and the powers that be would like to measure it in oil and gas revenues and or mineral avaiability ...... or maybe fish/protein value ..... how should we measure it? ................ I suggest we don't bother measuring it, because we really can't...... and make a deal ........ 2 or 3 decision makers/big shots from each place..... meet at a table, Macau I think would be a good place .............. and make a flipping deal............. I don't think the real people would really care who gets what.......just get it over with.
big thing would be to not involve the media .... free speech fine.... but constant speculation and ignorance should be kept to a minimum

Let's not forget that China owns the entire South China Sea, 160,000 sq. km of Russia, all of Mongolia and Vietnam, all or part of 14 bordering countries, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean and the moon. That's just for starters...
I agree to a point.............. but I am pretty sure I have a deed,, that I bought on-line in 1995 and stored away for the future.......... for 1.5 acres of the moon ............ I certainly hope that my time living here in China will help me, should there be any negotiations required over my ownership of this small parcel of MOON.

Britannica Online lists the area of the US at 9,518,287 sq km, and the
area of China at 9,572,900 sq km. Encarta lists the area of the US at
9,826,630 sq km, with the land area of China at 9,571,300 sq km. The
CIA World Factbook lists the area of the US at 9,631,418 sq km, and
the area of China at 9,596,960 sq km.
Why all the fluctuation? I'm sure that some of the figures count
territories and other possessions--like Puerto Rico and Guam for the
US and Hong Kong and Macau for China--while others do not. Perhaps
some figures account for water differently than others. Is there some
kind of world geography resource that can give difinitive, consistent,
and authoritative figures for the areas of these (and other)
countries?

None of China's borders with any of it's bordering countries is clearly defined. Policy changes from time to time as to what is recognised as Chinese territory, and what is recognised as the other countries' territory.
It seems we have found another area where China cannot provide accurate facts and figures.

ARE YOU KIDDING......... I once built a road to connect to an under construction ferry terminal........ for 2 years we knew that we were working with different data/ different sea levels ..2 meters different.... whoever finished first was right and the other would have to massage ( wishing for one now) their construction to meet the completed one....................... I once lived on a lake in BC .. .. (Shuswap Lake for you BC guys) 5000km shoreline advertised ............ but I could drive around it in about 3 1/2hours on some pretty shitty roads....how fast was I going????

If we consider the territory attained b the "Mongol Hordes" one could argue that they own all of Asia, and a large chunk of Europe (from China to Austria).....

Canada, but they'll never take it over because we drink good beer. The US never took us because of our beer. The British left after a bunch of drunks went downtown York (Toronto) and yelled at them.
