Q: Letter of Invitation.
i am married to a Chinese lady and we live in Beijing I want to invite my mum. Does anyone know the relevant office i can visit for INVITATION LETTER for my mum?
You write it yourself! It is you who is inviting her, not the government
check out the website of the Chinese visa office in your home country that your mother will apply to. They will have details of what is needed. This is what I sent to my Mum last time:
1) Invitation letter from me to my Mum.
2) copy of my passport personal information page
3) copy of my resident permit page
4) Copy of my birth certificate

The OP, OTOH, might be better off... I don't know the diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria at the moment.

Also, you need the get a proof letter from your embassy in China , that confirms she is your mother ; ( you need to ask the embassy of your country in China about it); I guess you need the copy of passports(yours and your mom's)+ Any other identification cards that you use in your Country (these are necessary documents for the embassy of your country to give a stamped letter to u)
Then for the rest of process, Follow Hotwater advice !

My mother had to show passport when she applied for the visa. Best thing is to check the website of the Chinese embassy visa section in Nigeria. They have relatively clear guidelines of what is required
better is your wife write it
include photo copy of her id card and make sure you give details of financial support and medical insurance as well as addresses and you identify all parties with full name date of birth
also a firm time frame when the visitor will be in China
the more you tell them the less problems you will have
i have never had any problems with this process in the last 10 years
