Q: Letter of Recommendation

As a teacher in China I know it is necessary to obtain a Release Letter from a school in order to renew a Z visa to teach in another school.  But is it necessary to also obtain a Letter of Recommendation in order to renew the Z visa and obtain a new Foreign Expert Certificate?

I think they are one and the same. I only got one piece of paper, and that worked.

you only need the release letter, the letter of recommendation is only for your personal use when looking for a new job to show at the interview

A release letter is something totally different than a 'letter of recommendation'.

To get  a 'letter of recommendation' one has to ask for it and it is not a normal

thing in China. When I asked for it they did not know what I wanted and asked

me to write it for them and then they 'would see' if they could approve it. They did

approve and wrote it for me and signed it and sealed it with their rubber stamp;

i.e. red star.

Same as above. The letter of recommendation is separate, and I have usually been told to write my own, then they translate it, so it is in both languages.

Needless to say, I have some incredibly glowing references from China ... Shift+R improves the quality of this image. Shift+A improves the quality of all images on this page.
