Q: Li Tianyi's sentence, was it enough
Just heard that Li Tianyi was sentenced to ten years in prison for gang rape. do you think this was a suitable sentence, and what about his mother. Should she have been charged with trying to pervert the course of justice, always assuming that such a charge even exists here. or where her connections too strong.
I'm not sure of the exact details of the case and it is always a touchy issue when rape is involved. However, compared to the regular rape sentence which is usually only 3 years, Li Tianyi did get quite a long sentence. I do think they were very aware of the publicity surrounding the case and were careful not to appear too lenient when sentencing him. However, who knows if he actually has to stay there for the whole 10 years. It wouldn't surprise me if he comes out in 5.
I'd be surprised if he goes away at all.
Considering the level of bribery, his familys' connections and the readily available body-doubles, I reckon he is still sat at home.
Means, someone else is in a jail, and he is boarding 1st class in nearest Beijing-Florida plane...
why would a rich powerful kid share a lady in a gang rape when he can buy one on craigslist for 800 rmb any time.
chinese men have to fight a foreigner with 5 to 1 odds in their favor and the same odds for a rape, something sick about this whole rich kid scene in beijing.
