what makes you say "I LOVE MY COUNTRY"?
This is Non-Chinese related but since I'm an American.
1. Freedom
2. Education
3. HollyWood
Xpat.John:
In America, we don't capitalize the "W" in Hollywood. Mingbai ma?
JackieChan:
YOUR country is not America, so it is China related, tell the truth you love chewing bones for meals, you love eating with chop sticks, and you have the freedom that no westerner has to enjoy, the freedom to pick your nose any where any time.
Food
My best friend
People are generally honest and mindful of others
Quality of life
Clean air
The ability to mostly trust that the things I eat & drink are actually what they say they are.
1.- because I was born there.
2.- because as I grew up, I learned customs, traditions, behavioral patterns that helped me become a mature person today.
3.- because I use as a base to measure how others live in other countries.
4.- AND ABOVE ALL, because it is a heck of a place to live, although I do not agree with a few things going on.
And a funny thought, while many enjoy knocking my country down, everyday hundreds of persons try hard to enter it even as illegals dreaming of a better life. Seldom see someone leaving it thinking of a better life, so we all should be doing something right.
Xpat.John:
I am currently in the US buying a home for my eventual (and hopefully immanent) return. The funny thing is that a lot of the competition in buying a house right now is coming from Chinese folks who are snatching up houses in droves.
1. Cheese
2. Beautiful, clean environment
3. People help you when in trouble, they do not let you die with your guts spilt all over the street, surrounding you in a crowd like a certain country we all know...
And as a bonus, 4. Fast and pretty much uncensored internet.
I hate my country. I really do. America is full of idiots with a stupid philosophy. I also hate China. It is also full of idiots with a stupid philosophy.
There are things I like about both places, but nothing would make me say "I LOVE MY COUNTRY!" because I know that my country will never love me. Its simple to see that such patriotic rambling will only encourage irresponsible government. In America that means warfare, torture of suspected 'terrorists', idiotic neoliberal economics (and yes, neoliberal is the right word, USA is one of few countries that uses the word "liberal" the way it does), and unhealthy lifestyle.
crimochina:
sadly tap i agree with a lot of what you said. my time in china has made me see that usa is slowly becoming china (stripping away at freedoms, policing thought) this is exactly why i want to fight to fix usa. i do not want it to be china no fucking way.
The countryside
The food
The queues (man i miss people queuing)
Happy answered it best.
It's the exact level you were raised to accept, anything above or below just feels strange.
Even if Mama wasn't a good cook; eating something, that was just how mom makes it, provides a certain level of comfort that can't be reached by even 5 star chefs.
I left my home (Bulgaria) 14 years ago...lived in the US, Holland, Italy, UK, now China. Not many people have been to Eastern Europe or know much about it...The food, the nature and the people are amazing...history, traditions, freedom, you name it. You can't compare it to any Western country. The problem is that its hard to live there...if you are foreigner making a lot of money then it works...and a lot of them are living there now. But if I was a teacher there (which I was for a while), I'd be struggling big time. Anyway, I'm glad I'm going home for a month this year.

Thumbs down!?! Okay, which retards are taking 'black humour' as a racist slur? Next I'll be condemned for saying that black markets are bad for government revenue.
Freedom to do or say almost anything I want within the law.
Decent social justice that gives all access to reasonable health care and education.
The chance to make the most of your life regardless of where you are from and who your connections are. Yes you do get a big head start if you are well connected but if you make the effort and have the ability you can still become a high achiever.
Being able to chose your partner for the right reasons.

Jnusb416:
I like dogs, but I also like cats, especially big fluffy cats like Maine Coons. When I settle down someday, maybe I'll buy one.
TedDBayer:
I've probably raised 200, my kittens are across Canada, Europe. It's a money pit hobby, don't make anything, just enjoy it while I could..

download free music & movies, McDonald's delivery, KTV
TedDBayer:
MacDonalds has delivery? I'm going home soon, wanna come? Got a visa?
I don't. My country pisses me off more and more each year. I love the scenery and clean air and such, but the apathy of the people regarding politics is pissing me off to no end. God bless Quebec students.
crimochina:
hey hey hey canada will soon be my country may i ask why it pisses you off?
nevermind:
Canadians have their heads so far up their asses about how great their country is, meanwhile it's being totally eroded by a douchebag government and the collective apathy toward this is staggering. I have no idea what it takes to get Canadians protesting in the streets. But I know it isn't
- Raising the cieling for a government review of the sale of a Canadian corporation to a foreign entity from $330 million to one billion.
- Trying to force an oil pipeline down our throats when the public is clearly against it
- Targetting organizations' charitable status if they openly disagree with the government
- Allowing companies to bring in migrant workers from outside of Canada and paying them 15 per cent less than Canadians doing the same job
- getting "tough on crime" in a country where the crime rate has been dropping for 40 years and building new prisons claiming they are needed cause many crimes aren't reported (Yes, so we're building prisons for suspects in crimes that aren't reported)
That's just the tip of the iceberg. I could also go into how the entertainment and technology sector are b-rate cause all our talent goes to the US for bigger paycheques, which is the same reason we can't market ourselves beyond log cabins and canoes despite having the two most diverse cities on the planet in the country.
Canada is nice for clean air, erudite and polite people and a lot of other things. But the government is pissing me off and Canadians are just sitting there watching it happen.
crimochina:
similiar to usa
chinese take note: critiquing your country does not mean you hate it. actually means you love your country and want it to be strong.
TedDBayer:
I think our government is way to weak on crime, and immigration levels are too high, 2,500,000 people a year. At this rate the country will be called Chinada.
TedDBayer:
oops sorry, still too high. We look at other countries and point at corruption, yet we have big government scandals and they're forgotten by noon. I think if our government were in charge of the Sahara Desert, there'd be a shortage of sand in a couple of years.
Fast, reliable internet
Breathable air
The sexual revolution..
I know it says three, but I'm adding a fourth, and announcing that I am adding a fourth so that MissA doesn't think I can't count. (For the record, I can get up to 22 if I take my shoes and shirt off )
Freedoms to be outspoken against... whatever I want to be outspoken about.
Chinese history
Chinese food
Chinese Medline
emilychen:
Chinese medicine's side effect is less than other medicine.
besides, Chinese medicine is probably just from the tress and grasses in the mountain or some wild places...i mean the Chinese medicine is made from the natural stuff... (not professional, personal opinion.) but i am proud of Chinese medicine as it is unique in the world !

nevermind:
Yes, but it doesn't work and has no scientific basis that it would. For instance, once when I had sore muscles I was told I "Had cold air in my body" the stupidity and unscientific nature of this is endless. It's like voodoo. How can you say that it works?
Jnusb416:
Guys, would you leave her alone? You're not going to change her opinion online. You just look like a bunch of jerks.
diversity
good drivers (except for new yorkers)
