Q: The Long Game

For china..Their "football" game is beating the USA..I came home with a very acute sense of this..Beating American manufacturing..beating American finances...beating American precedent..etc..They don't give a sh*t about national sports...In the end that is just one chinese fighting another chinese...There is no collective passion for their Shanghai Sharks or Beijing Ducks...They play the bigger game and their citizens carry the same sort of swagger towards foreigners that say a Patriots has towards a Cowboys fan does after winning the game...EVERYDAY I lived with that in china..That is why I came home with a real sense of purpose buying American..investing American...CHOOSING American...The chinese have a collective passion towards playing the big game...They CHOOSE chinese because it means winning the big game..(look deeper why early Han were so strict about keeping females a minority...pimps)..CHOICE can be just as much dangerous as any weapon when you are given it to use...or when you point in a certain direction...Winning the big game that would make all of the USA's sports teams negligent...It would reveal that to all Americans that that passion you had for "your team" ..the Yankees.....the Giants..whatever..All of that would just be negated for wasted passions...You see this in Europe as the chinese buy soccer teams...And you also realize our politicians are acting like it is "just a game"..they just get paid to be "coaches" and observe the field... and our coaches are doing a horrible job..because they see themselves in such a inconsequential role..."It is just a game"..It is more than that ..It is babies..It is jobs...It is soldiers...It is your family or theirs...The USA needs the kind of nationalism which sees itself as ONE team..It needs that passion that you see towards college football...or the NBA...but it has to be in the nation..What do you think?

On a side note: I was given vip tickets to see a kickboxing event on sunday night.

6 Chinese Vs 6 foreigners. Russians, Thais and 2 others.

When the locals were announced my ears bled but (perhaps my ears were still damaged) the when the other fighter was introduced the announcer just mumbled something.

So the fights began. It was obvious that the chinese guys all had the same game plan. Let the other guy wail on you until he is too tired to go on. Locals were literally punched and kicked around the ring for the entire 3 rounds, completely outclassed. One russian guy barely broke a sweat and wandered around the ring between rounds without a sip of water. The local could barely stand and had bright red contact marks all over his body. Punch drunk is probably appropriate.

Then after each fight they announce the winner. A clean sweep for China. National pride is restored!!!

The 99.999999999999% chinese crowd around me were all laughing at the sham with no little embarrassment each time a winner was announced.

Let it be said, this wasn't a competition but rather an entertainment event and all did have a good time (except the chinese fighters -who won)

yes, i will be rubbing it in that Britain kicked their ass in the Olympics for at least a year, and of course asking them where the drugs are for sale at the sports universities.
