You mean American 'seppuku' teacher? How sharp are your blades (tanto)?

I used to live close to the Jap. Samurai master, and he told me once, 'always ask for sharpness of the tanto', before you accept the job.

for a 3 hour illegal class in Shanghai, 100-150 an hour?

donnie3857:

Your rates are 50 rmb higher than mine, but I like your response. I have a work visa but not for Shanghai.

I am a Canadian English spanking teacher, I would do it for free if the class of girls was big enough.

100-150rmb/hour? I was approached to teach at 200rmb/hour. I'm non native (Chinese descent) and I am in Chongqing. You want specifically an American Englsih speaking native? Please, either you don't know the market or you are trying your luck here.

I'm wondering why admin allows such ads to be placed here. There is a proper place in echinacities but they chose to do it here.

1) That's really low wage for this job
2) If you are looking for a foreigner to do this legally, this foreigner should be on a visa that allow him/her to work : a Z visa. So that person would have a job already, and you can't just cumulate jobs like this, unregistered, on a Z visa. You might not know it, but you are asking for someone to work illegally. If you follow the news a bit, crackdown on illegal foreign workers are fashionable those days.
3) It's a question/answer section, not a job announcement section. There's a job section on this website, don't pollute this section...

The wage offers are starting to fall everywhere. Over the last 4 years they remained stable even as the economy grew. Contrary to what many say on this sight, the economics would say there is a glut of FTs on the market.  No-one really knows. But the wages offered speak volumes. I have noticed there are recruiters offering up to (some very high number) based on qualification: MBA or PhD with 100 years experience and la di da. Of course any one having this kind of qualification would not be working in a school in China.  Of course the recruiter will start at the low end (4,000 per month) along with a fully furnished jail cell.

Isn't it just normal Ch. pricing method. For selling things, overprice by 30-50+% and try to milk as much as possible out of the buyer. For buying things (or hiring employees), underprice and try to milk as much as possible out of the producer.

jetfire9000:

The more people that take underpaid jobs, the more companies will get the green light to offer lower wages. That being said, I get the feeling that people (edit* I mean Chinese companies) are increasingly desperate for money these days. Maybe having a English school isn't good enough business plan anymore, so employers will try to cut off 10,20,30, or 50 RMB per hour off the wage to make up for something. Of course, that wage cut will be kept on the low down, hiding in between eye catching headlines such as *EARN 150 an hour teaching English and TRAVELLING in Shanghai!* Hey, since I get to "Travel" in Shanghai, seems to be worth it, huh? Riiiiight. They wanna make their millions overnight, after all. That's the real Chinese dream. These lower wages could also have to do with inexperienced HR staff from newer schools too though. More places seem to have the same pipe dreams of hiring foreigners for peanuts and reaping sky high benefits from them. The newer the place the more likely they are to make outrageously expectations I guess. Hopefully the market will let them learn the hard way to up their incentives a bit though.
