Q: A lot of young Chinese guys have grey hair?
I have seen quite a few young Chinese guys that have grey hair. Back home, I've never seen a young guy with grey hair. Have you noticed that too?
Ive noticed it a few young guys here... but Im american and I started noticing my own grey hairs when I was about 23... damn genes

Do you smoke or does your parents smoke? There was a kid I knew he had almost a full set of white or gray hair on his head. Finds out he smoked and so did his parents@
pressures of school, parents, not know anything useful, no social skills, hyper competition, face etc

Don't forget smoking: leading cause of aging. People who smoke may look 50 but they are really 30.
Sheesh, people!!! Firstly, also a lot of girls have grey hairs as well.
Secondly, I think you'll find that the percentages are probably about the same, but grey (white) on black is more obvious than grey (white) on brown, red, blonde hair....
Smoking has nothing to do with it (and damn, I wish I could thumbs down a comment!!!)

I know it's more obvious, but I still see more boys with grey hair. While I have seen young men who are balding back home, grey hair was almost nonexistent at college age.

Really???? From my experience (of 1st and 2nd year uni students), it seems to be about the same rate of boys and girls with those evils (what I call grey hairs). But true, I haven't seen much balding.... less stress?? (hahaha!!!) Diet??

Actually, (shoot me now) smoking has been linked to gray hair. So has a deficiency of B12, and some medical conditions.
My GF is 40 years old, and does have more white hair than me. My mother was over 70 years of age and she had all her hair still black, not a single white one. My GF hates white hair, and does color her hair every two weeks to cover them.
Yes, maybe white hair is more noticeable in contrast with black hair, but it still shows. In my opinion, white hair develops here sooner than at western countries. Why?. Good question.

Happy, I am willing to bet your mother was/is a faithful and secret hair color-er ;) LOTS and many and most women, as they get older, dye their hair with no one ever knowing.

Nope, she lived in my home, and saw her every day many times. She never colored her hair, eventually yes, turned white all of it, but she was maybe close to 75 when that happens. And I got her genes too, I do not have many in my head, except my beard which is maybe 1/2 white.
As a balding man, I would be very happy if I had a full head of hair, even if it were grey...
The Hair on the sides of my head will start to turn white sliver gray when I hit my forties and will give me a distinguished air I do not fear it coming in the slightest. So I feel that most Chinese men will not care when it happens ether.

my whole family looks like comic book scientist when we hit forty then again most of us are doctors or engineers by then and smoke pipes so that might be why.
One of the major causes of grey hair is b12 defiency. How does one get B12 in their system?
B12 is found in meat, eggs, milk and cheese. If they aren't consuming enough, deficiency.
And (shudder), yaya is correct. Smoking is a cause. Smokers are four times more likely to get greys.
The adrenaline produced when you are stressed can cause greys.
Grey is heriditary.
If you have any combination of the above in your life....
May I tactfully point out that at the age group we're talking about, smoking isn't going to be a factor? Ironically, perhaps, the students I've seen with those greys are NOT the ones to consider smoking...

Either they smoke a lot or their parents smoked a lot. If a person was 20 but actually looks 40 it's probably he's aged faster than normal. Some things that can contribute to this is stress and also drinking alcohol and smoking. The gray or white hairs that you've seen is the consequence and result of bad habits. It won't happen to everyone just like all people won't lose their voice box if they smoke but it does happen.
Mine was very grey and started going grey in my mid 30's. To keep my Chinese partner happy I eventually agreed to her request to let her put a bit of colour in. It was against my tradition/stereotype/peer behaviour but in the end I just thought "fk it if it makes her happy who cares if my mates take the piss" I actually like it now and have only had a few mentions by a few of my good mates. (although I am sure they have a laugh when I am not around).
The thing with Chinese though is that if you dye very black hair then no one will ever notice and i would think that there is a much larger proportion of males who do the deed in China/Asia than elsewhere. I have observed a lot less people with grey hair and I assumed that is because so many dye it.
