Q: "Lucy Liu does not fit the stanards of Chiense beauty." Say what!?!!
My Chinese friends just told me this. I was floored. She is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion.
I think it's the freckles and the small eyes. The narrow definition of beauty here is really sad.

All of you know that its her stardom that gives her an extra "umph" in her beauty/desirability. Im willing to bet if she wasnt a star, and was walking down the street in anytown, China most men (both foreign and chinese) wouldnt give her a second look. Point is, being a celebrity makes one appear more glamorous that what they really are.

I don't find her that attractive - not in comparison to many other Chinese girls that I've seen... or non-Chinese for that matter. (but then, some of the other Chinese stars I don't find that attractive either... and yes, some others are quite attractive!)
I find her ok but not super hot. If you walk down a street in a big city here in China you will see a few hotties that are better looking than Lucy Liu. I am not saying she is ugly but like sliverbutton1 said her stardom makes her seem more special than she actually is.

Lucy Liu is not a Chinese/Taiwan/Hk actress looking clone. Thus she is not "good looking". Chinese are very strange when it comes to these things and very blunt... not much thought behind... they are told what is beautiful rather than sorting that out for themselves.
