wife or girl friend?
For me, lie to me, I'll probably never trust you again ever. But Chinese are different. How can they forgive or ignore being lied to?
Because they do it too. There are people here, of they younger generation, who hate the lying and won't do it that much themselves. I doubt they don't lie at all, but at least they realize that it's not helping anyone.

I agree, I don't lie to my bf but I have to lie to my parents sometimes. (like I will always say i'm fine on the phone with my mom)
Ted, on this you think like me, since I hate lies too. But as Jnusb said, they all do, and sometimes for no reason at all. It is like second nature to them.
Better get used to this unless you want to change GF like 4 times each day.
TedDBayer:
I shrugged it off, because I'm learning about China, just wondering why, Odd that she would, if it was a girl at home I'd never answer her calls again.
Agree with Happy, I wouldn't say English is their second language, lying is. I'll give it a LSF, maybe they can teach it in society in a first world country or at a law school
Maybe they have religion and think they won't be able to move along if they don't forgive the person that committed the sin of lying.
I have been here and with my gf long enough to learn to accept the little lies as long as it's not big lies. I have always been an honest person but now have started telling little lies myself...if she can do it why can't I....I've been here too long.
I find the lies are loosely related to the truth sort of
like sir Humphrey in yes minister
it is more miss leading rather than a bare face lie
the latest one was that sales girl with the bed a few weeks back
it's just another face game they play
I was thinking about this, i suppose there are times when I'm thinkin 'lie to me baby, o yeah lie to me''.
Ted, I take it you really haven't traveled much. Go live in India, Latin America, or Russia for a while, and you would appreciate Chinese much more.
subhash.sah:
Now that's uncalled for. Are you one of those Chinese, who hates the rest of the world? Also does your idea of travel include actually traveling to those countries you mentioned or whatever you read on your government regulated text book and website?
TedDBayer:
I can't appreciate being lied to or cheated, two things that are too common here. I can't understand why Chinese accept deceit.
