I always bring a few bottles of Midol from back home for the wife or friends. I dont think they have similar here, as the women that get it hoard it like gold. They used wierd soups and teas and other wierd TCMs before. Please dont ask me how I know this but.... if its super bad and you cant find western cramps pills, woman have used birth control pills for years as a way to releive the pain. Might be something to consider as its widely available here.

The pharmacy most likely have a painkiller with the same active ingredient. Most drugs exist in a copy version. Doesn't mean the drug is more likely to cause side effects provided you trust it has been properly manufactured. If you're near Hong Kong, may I suggest a nice weekend shopping trip to stock up on drugs.

Real ladies use PM for replies here..........

I cannot answer for mike, but I like to think of myself as not belonging to a denomination of people called "real ladies".... trying to keep it real though.

I usually bring back a bottle of ibuprofen with me when I visit the states.  Great for hangovers (treatment and prevention!) and for the gf's monthly visit from Ma Nature.  Can you get ibuprofen in China?  I've never seen it in stores....might wanna check on taobao or something.
