Q: Monthly salary divided by 30 days ???????

Been in China now for 6 years

came back to a new school here in Beijing on September 7th (because of the holiday (military parade)).

when September salary came i was told it was divided by 30/31 days and not the usual 20-22 days I was accustomed to

never before divided by the full month always the number of week days in the month

so they worked out the salary from the 1st even though i wasnt here (so took 1st 7 days from me anyway and divided the rest of the salary by 30 days ?????????????

is this standard practice/new practice

or am I getting shafted

its a monday to friday daytime school

z visa/residence permit holder

any advice is welcomed

Contact FEB, and ask them, if that is legal (by your Contract).

I had scheduled first classes this semester from Sep. 7th on, despite I was present on the Campus from the end of August. I got salary deposit shorter for some 1/4, and I asked my rep about it.

By our Contract, School is obliged to pay full salary, doesn't matter the days spent in the classroom.

Rep: 'You'll receive the difference with next salary deposit.' Public school.

Check your leave days as well. If they do this with salary calculations, they might also count weekends as leave days when you want to take leave.

Shafted.  Fk the foreigner.

"This is China!"

icnif77:

I often feel that way, butT...I also receive much higher pay than them, and my 'office hours' are the most some 30' before the first class. Chinese teachers hang in the school whole day.

I usually look for help in that matter with 'Contract studies'angel.

Easy to check, ask for a day off and see if they withdraw 1/30 or 1/22 days from you. Obviously the later would be more profitable for them but then they would shoot themselves in the foot and you can contact SAFEA.

its most definitely divided by 30 days

I went to the philippines for october break, and i got conjunctivitis there, airlines would let me fly, so obviously I couldnt travel, ( I made them aware of this and provided doctors notes/bills/letter)

days missed were thursday/friday/saturday/sunday/monday/tuesday/wednesday (7 days total)

and there contract is 50% salary reduction for days missed

and they are deducting 3.5 days total

7 days divided by 50%

saturday and sunday included

whats number for safea in Beiing

is worth the grief (its not the money, can make that back in a few hours in the other job i have) its purely the principle

Beijing safea ??????????

dont see it there

icnif77:

edit: There is no Beijing SAFEA on the link. Just click 1st one 'Tianjin', and ask them for address and contact no. of Beijing SAFEA. If you'll get Beijing's address and contact no., add it to the thread, pls.

You could also ask your rep. about SAFEA address and ph. no. It is the same office, where you were a week or two before you got your FEC.

SAFEA's address thread has been updated with Beijing's address and ph. no.
