Q: Multiple personality or not?

Didn't join this site to talk about myself and i'm loathe to do it now, but i've been given the distinct impression that more than a few of you good people out there actually believe that I am actively using more than one echina account. The suggestion in fact is that myself, Loke and (haha, love it) Hugh G Rection are all one and the same person. So by a show of 'THUMBS UP' for "Yeh, I believe you" or 'THUMBS DOWN' for "No, I don't" would you please vote now.

PS: For any of you who received a message from the cat in the tie today asking you to refrain from making such accusation, it was (sort of) at my request. What I asked was for admin to release details of my account publicly so that people might see that I am only using ONE account. I don't want people to think that I am fooling them. It would be a sucky, pissy, lame, twatish, childish, stupid, arse-bong, cockhead, dicksnot, fuckwit, (arse-bong?), donkey poop, fuck-knuckle thing to do. And i'm not doing it.

There were a number of posters that turned up all at the same time, with a similar writing tone and similar outlook. People get suspicious when that happens.

That said, I don't think you're a multiple.

Give it some time, martian, and you'll probably find there's enough "I American, I no like American because China has so much better culture" types, that hang out on the main page and make occasional incursions in the answers section, that you'll also give all new arrivals a good long look.

mArtiAn:

So it's the coincidental arrival of kindred spirits that caused the problem. We are afterall in the mystic east. Truth is it's not really such a big coincidence, I know one of those guys, I introduced him to the site. I've been here before you know, under another moniker. A moniker which died with the birth of mArtiAn, never to breath again.

PS: Thanks for the vote of coincidence, but howzabout the 'thumbs up'? It's beginning to look cold in my corner.

Yeh, this was a stupid idea, wasn't it?

GuilinRaf:

I would not say it is stupid.  Obviously this really means a lot to you and I guess we all have our "thing" that may not bug others but drives us insane.

I do admit that I too once thought you were someone else, but with all the effort that you have been expending to clear your name, I guess I was wrong and for that I apologize.

Cheers!

This site has been bombarded by wu mao's and fakers for the past year...we have issues.

I completely agree with MissA...certain sequences will trigger all of our suspicions and do not take it personally...it is simply a reaction to the crap we have dealt with in the past.

5 British expats all with the same tone showing up at the same time will make all us old timer's question legitimacy.

You have spent such a great effort defending yourself unlike a typical wu mao that I will change the subject...I have given up on the witch hunt...welcome...THUMBS UP!!

Cheers.

mArtiAn:

Goood, goood, you are falling right into my trap. A little further to the left. That's it. A little further. Come onnn. That's right. And THERE!

  I said THERE!

There....this darn button's stuck again. Useless motherfu....I told them to fix this!

(Haha, but you got the 'further to the left' joke though, right?)

Really, I appreciate it Dude, i'm just here to make friendly. Truth be told, I shouldn't care less what people think, I should be outside. Out there. Out with the three dimensional people. I'm really getting old tooo soon.

I get why the suspicion, and I didn't realise there were 'five' of us 'liberal' types arrived at the same time. But life's funny. I remember once I went to a festival, two weeks after telling my folks I wanted to go back to the house where I was born. Over 100,000 people there and by 'pure chance' I met a girl who lived in it. Life's funny.

I must admit I thought M might be Fish

and as the rest of us old hands  the sudden influx of new people was a little overwhelming

I still think Matty is here because of the type of posts that turn up and the shear number of them.

just give us time to adjust to the newer arrivals

best regards

I agree somewhat with some of the detractors.  It is a little fishy to have all these "englishmen" joining the site en masse....

But, at least your posts are humorous, and not just useless and unrelated banter like the previous trolls you supposedly "replaced".  Welcome!

I want to choose my words carefully here.......

In my opinion, your posts, comments and responses are usually witty, entertaining and for the most part, thought provoking to read.

Could it be possible that it's actually not the multiple personality issue that has some people annoyed?

Do you think it's possible that others on here may think that you, hugh, loke and crea seem to be trying rather hard in an effort to garner attention that the majority here don't seem to crave?

Can you understand why I say that?

I mean no ill will here. Just stating an observation in question form.

mArtiAn:

I appreciate your frankness, but I don't recognize a particular need for attention in Hugh or Loke. Me and Crimo, maybe. Fucking embarrassing to admit if it's true, i'm a 44 year old man, but then I did just post a question entirely about myself, so...

Honestly, I think this site is ripe with people eager to talk about themselves and garner attention. It's almost the very nature of the site. People aren't 'chatting' as such, so they're not really forced to pay great attention to anyone else. We ask and are asked questions about our experience in OUR GLORIOUS CHINA (sorry, had to get one in, i'm on commission here) and then we answer in long, tiring, drawling waves of what we think. There's a self-obsessive nature to it.  Seriously, just ask a question along the lines of 'Tell me what you do...' and see how many people are eager to make a long list about themselves.

I dunno, am I an attention seeking wang? Yeh, I dunno, probably. Shit, I wanted to be an actor, i'm bound to be. Oneself is always the hardest person to see. It's personal and it's raw. That's why we project it onto others and view it that way. So who are you really asking about? Is it me? Or is it you?

Yeh, it's still me, ain't it?

  Ahhh, wotevaaa!

lokethebloke:

Hello derek,

I am Lokethebloke, I'm nobody else, just me.  I'm a big fan of China, warts and all.   I'm also a big fan of mArtiAn.    I believe that with the right medication and time the condition of both will improve.

I'm not seeking attention here, I'm just responding in the same way as some others, i.e. I get angry and upset when I perceive petty anti Chinese 'nit picking' in the same way as those who perceive an anti American/Western stance on my part.

How do people think those Chinese who visit this site feel about the pettiness and constant griping.    What do people think would happen if there was a China Expat site behaving like this in your own country.

Gia,,,,,, got it right when he suggested that it is not my role or responsibility to change things, but just like others on this site I feel that a huge amount of injustice is going on here.

Go back a little way in history. for those with little or no history, a little is about 1 or 2 hundred years.

The Brits in Victorian times living 20 to a room, throwing their excrement out into the street, women shagging for the price of a glass of adulterated gin, the inevitable abuse of power and quite a few other terrible behaviours.   We survived and after a lot of struggles we changed into what we are today, a relatively civilized bunch who like to take the piss out of ourselves Monty Python style.   It took time, we learned a lot on the way, some of it from our former colonies who were 'civilized' long before we arrived to destroy them.

Now the Yanks, the great depression, people struggling to survive before, during and after the Wall Street Crash.    Families uprooted because dust bowls had destroyed their meager living on their homesteads.   The inevitable abuse of power, a time of greed and corruption.   After a relatively short period things improved to where they are now.   It was a struggle, some could ask, me for one, was it worth it, given the present banking crisis (British humour) and even more abuse of power.

Now China, a country steeped in history who's growth has been stunted by what happened in the 19th and early 20th century and in 1948,   Huge suffering and death caused by idiots who abused their power and should have known better.   The vast majority of present day Chinese have been lied to and 'propaganderised' till it's coming out of their ears.   A large number know the score, they're just not going to shout too loudly about it yet.  People I've met are desperate for change, but when they read some of the petty crap on here they despair and  wonder if it's worth it.   The economy here has changed rapidly, if social change goes at the same pace then China will implode, and then where will the world be?

I see what's going on here on this site and wonder.   I can't understand why a bunch of relatively articulate and when sober, decent people can show so much dislike (perhaps hate) and disrespect to a nation that's trying, all be it slowly to improve the lot of it's citizens.   The Chinese have got a long way to go, a little bit of help and encouragement would come in handy rather than constant griping.   I don't bother with these ticky things, I'll carry on awarding the odd mirror.
