Get a new passport from your embassy in China and take both you old and new passports to the local PSB to get your resident permit (visa) transferred to the new passport or travel with both new and old passports.

You just have to carry both passports, the Visa doesn't automatically expire if you get a new passport only your old passport expires. You can go to your embassy in China to get a new passport (which I did) saves a lot of hassels. Just telephone your embassy to get an appointment, take some passport photos, some RMB to pay for it and heah, your done, they will even mail it to your company. It took one week for me to get it re-issued.

Hello. YOu need to go your embassy here in china.  and you need to do it asap because you dont know until when you can get your new passport. when you apply  new visa its needed your passport 6 months  valid.  and when you apply new passport also they need  your current passport but they will not take that from you. after you apply new one they will give you your current passport when you get your new one they will cancel that old one. but when you apply new visa  you need to bring your old and new one.

It is quiet simple, go to your embassy with your current passport and apply for new passport. Once you will get new passport you will see it is attached with old passport so you can always your residence permit..also when you will apply for new passport..generally there is a column where you have to mention about valid visa in the expired passport.

The summary is that your both..new and old passport will be attached and wherever you will go..you will got with both passport..so don't worry and be happy..
